A tip to all those out there for those who are into article marketing for maximum benefit.

You can use Google tools effectively to help you in article marketing.

First of all compile a list of article directories which has a page rank for 3 or 4 above using the Google toolbar.

Now imagine you have got a list of 300 places that you could submit it too. It is quite a painstaking procedure to submit to all these sites, so it would be very good to find out which ones out of those are worth submitting to again.

· One way is to simply search using the article title name in Google.

· The other way is signup for Google alerts to receive alerts for the link you have put in your article. Google Alerts

Over a period of time you will get alerts whenever Google tracks down your article link on an external website.

Note down all these websites which show your article and tally it with the database that you had initially submitted too. Make a separate list of these article sites, because these are the ones that is giving you maximum mileage for your marketing efforts.

Maybe the other article directories also would have published your article and you even have the link to reach that page, but what is the point if those links are way deep in the site that Google is not able to index.

The whole point of submitting articles is for Google to Index, so I would say submit only articles to those sites which Google is able to index easily.

Further more you also could further filter it to those sites that give you link juice by way of "Dofollow links" if you may.

Hey, that's a nice little tip I wasn't aware of, thanks.

My own way of doing this has always been to submit to as many as I can and simply look at my traffic referrer stats to see which sites are actually sending even a couple hits, then focus more on those and phase out the others.

But with Alerts (if it works like you say), then you can get information on backlinks without needing anybody to click through in the first place. I like!

Thats also a good way to do it, that is also accurate in a different way, somebody has to actually visit your site from that external link for it to show up in your stats.

Google alerts may not show all the links that come up in the website FTP stats.

    yes you said it;

But for the ones that show up in Google alerts, rest assured for those links you are likely to see more than one clicks to your site in your websitestats area soon.

Nice use of Google Alerts. Puts the tracking/reporting on automatic.

    Nice trick.

What I would do is to use Google Alert to know anytime someone reuses my articles, or link to my blog, and then add some backlinks to their version. To "promote the promoters" as Howie Swartz would have said.

You'd definately need to rewrite them and make sure they are unique if you are doing this for backlinks and extra traffic. 300 submissions using the same article is pretty much uselss.

I've found that there's not necessarily a link between the traffic you get from a directory and the number of backlinks you get.

For me, I get more backlinks from ArticleBase than from Ezine.

I'm pretty sure ArticleBase is nofollow. They do rank quite well though.
