You could start, temporarily (i.e. while short of money) by using free hosting at byethost.com, 000webhost.com or freehostia.com. They're about as reliable as free hosts get, and unlike some free hosts they don't put advertising buttons on their own on their clients' free-hosted pages.

When you're doing better, it would be very easy to upgrade to a low-cost paid hosting package at whichever of those three you start at, without your having to do much at all.

Freehostia has various inbuilt website-systems available as one-click installations. You could perhaps install a WordPress blog there and put your own website header on it?

If you want to pay month to month, try Hetrixbyte.com. I have been with them since 2010 and I have NO complaints. It's cheap, reliable hosting and they respond quickly each time I have a question. One click installs of WordPress and many other scripts. Check Softaculous...they have everything included in their package - one-click installs.

I use WordPress, and many of my sites have custom headers. Some simple Googling will help you add a custom header to your site. Hit me up if you need help.

You can design a WordPress theme for free on Wordpress Theme Generator, Editor, Template Creator - Lubith.com (not an affiliate link). It's all drag-and-drop, so you don't need any technical skill, and can easily incorporate your custom header.

You can host a site for free on wordpress.com and direct your domain to it, or look for a cheap hosting deal on eBay.

      No, I'm afraid not.

You can't use the free hosting at wordpress.com for selling a book or for using a "donate" button. Both contravene their terms of service, and your site would be removed as soon as a staff member noticed it. Whether you use your own domain-name to redirect to it or not.

there are a few hosting providers out there if not many. you get a tk domain for free and point it to a hosting space. for building the site, you can use WIX.

".tk" domains should be avoided at all cost. They're geotargeted as well as notoriously unreliable and unpleasant. (Even a free subdomain supplied by a free host, though far from optimal, is safer and wiser.)

Places like Wix, unlike the free hosts mentioned above, display their own advertising on their free-hosted users' sites, which looks dreadfully unprofessional and obviously "cheap".

Hostica.com is a decent and reliable host that charges only $1 per month, for one site.

Good stuff, right here. I'm not familiar with Hostica, but it sounds awesome. It says $5.95 for 10 sites as well. Not bad. I've never used Hsphere control panel. I wasn't very impressed with the demo on their site, but looks to be a good resource nonetheless.

The OP didn't specify FREE hosting. They are looking for hosting where they can pay month to month instead of paying for a year at a time.

I understand this completely as I had the same trouble when I first started out. I found my host on forum like WarriorForum...I just posted a thread asking for a host where I could pay via PayPal monthly and Andrei at Hetrixbyte.com responded. As I stated previously...I've been with them for 4 years, and I have absolutely NO complaints. I host about 10 sites and have no problems at all.

I'll take this a step further...dee100, I'll provide you hosting for this ONE site, FREE of charge. If you choose to install WordPress, I can do that for you as well and get your header up for you. NO STRINGS ATTACHED...however, I would not object if you would write a review of my services that I can put on my website at FacelessMarketing.com, but this is not a requirement. I will host your site until you choose to move it elsewhere.

    Let me know via PM.
