Product page protection question

I do not want to spend too much money for a basic protection of my digital product download page on ClickBank. So, I am wandering if there is any alternative beside getting a wordpress membership plug-in. Perhaps is there any sort of password protection for my customers to access the product download page?

How much is too much? I use DLGuard for most of my digital product deliveries.

    Cheers

Yep I agree. If you want cheap and easy then DL Guard is a good option for you.

There's very little value in protecting the download page without also protecting the product itself.

Most theft occurs after people upload your product to content-sharing, file-sharing, blackhat and torrent sites. Protecting the download page of a ClickBank product doesn't prevent anyone from buying it and uploading it to all those places (and then getting a refund!).

One way to discourage that (and it will probably prevent 99% of it) is to use something like e-Junkie's PDF-stamping device as part of your product's delivery method. e-Junkie is set up to work with ClickBank, in this regard. This can be very successful.

Don't let people tell you that "people who steal your product were never going to be paying customers anyway" - that's just "head in the sand" nonsense.

      Unfortunately
, the world is full of people who, when they want a particular product, will scour the web first looking for an illicit free download, and buy it only if they can't find one. Not protecting the product itself can cost you a lot of real sales for real money.

I don't suggest that you should go as far as using a .exe-file to protect it (because that will also stop a lot of people from buying it!), but in my opinion, it makes no sense to sell a product on ClickBank and not use something like e-Junkie's PDF stamper. (There are also alternatives, based on exactly the same idea).

It's true that you can't get 100% security that way, but that isn't a reason to ignore the 99% security you probably can get!

Again, it obviously helps to protect the download page, somehow, but it's of very limited value if you don't also protect the product itself!

True lexy, but this is were it gets expensive, because a copyright protection package to protect your product could be kind of pricy

I think e-Junkie cost something like $5 per month, the last time I looked???

Other PDF-stampers cost something like $17 or $27, one-time cost.

We're not talking about a fortune, here.

Who said anything about "copyright protection services"? (They don't prevent theft, and uploads to black-hat/torrent sites, anyway? They're methods of trying to deal with it after it's happened).

Again, the key concept here: obviously one wants and needs to protect the download page, but there's very limited value in protecting the download-page without also protecting the product itself.

I always protect my download pages for various reasons. First of all so the link can not be so easily shared around blackhat sites. They would much rather just share a download page link than have to upload the files themselves. So make it hard for them.

The second reason I protect it is because I use Amazon S3 to host my download files and if that page gets shared around, you can very easily find yourself with a big Amazon bill from downloads you were never paid for.

I don't bother with stamping PDFs. Most of my products are majority videos anyway and the PDF's are just supplementary. I really don't want anyone who is going to hang out on blackhat sites as my customers anyway so don't want them buying my stuff.

I much rather focus my efforts on providing value to the 99% of customers who pay for the product rather than trying to chase around the 1% of idiots who can't afford a $17 product and have to steal it. We all know those people will never make a dime online so good luck to them. They can have all the free products in the world. They still won't make a cent.

Karma sorts those people out anyway.
