Am I allowed to do this with a Wordpress website?

I just found a new plugin called "Wp Clone" which basically allows you to copy any Wordpress site, all you need to do is type in the url and it wil copy it onto your site automatically.
It got me thinking if you could clone any website using wordpress. Can you do that?
Just a thought.

Morals? This is a forum dedicated to making money online more often than not by selling the latest 'snake oil internet technique'. Or maybe 'Take advantage of the latest loophole in Googles ranking formula' .

There are no morals here. Any more than there are in any government or organisation.

So you think this forum is dedicated to an "anything goes" approach to marketing? Is that what you're saying?

Absolutely. The idea this is some form of 'saintly' area of wonderfulness is laughable. It's not BHW for sure but the WSO section is full of dodgy rubbish.

If you haven't purchased or created the theme or content yourself, then no, you can't do that.

So you hate google, youtube, yahoo, huff post, etc. When does thieving become curation? Or does the thieving on a grand scale become acceptable?

Actually, the plugin doesn't allow you to just type in the url of someone else's blog and create a copy, if it's WP Clone by WP Academy.

You can use this tool to create a backup of this site and (optionally) restore it to another server, or another WordPress installation on the same server.

Here is how it works: the "Backup" function will give you a URL that you can then copy and paste into the "Restore" dialog of a new WordPress site, which will clone the original site to the new site. You must install the plugin on the new site and then run the WP Clone > Restore function.
You actually have to have access to the blog you want to clone.

lol, some people are always looking for the easy way out.

There's a big difference between what you can do and should do. While there are probably ways you can copy a Wordpress site, there are a ton of reasons why you shouldn't do it. It's immoral, illegal and completely unprofessional to steal someone else's hard work and you won't make many friends around here asking questions like that.

    Hey don't do that!
That's completely stealing content from other websites.

I would be totally gutted if somebody cloned a site of mine.

I'm not sure why you're asking this question in the first place. And WP Clone is just a backup tool to backup and move your current wordpress site to a newwer location. previously this plugin was sold for $27 or something. Now it's a free and I hope people will put it for good use.

Well, it's not fair to steal someone else's work. Let's say you find a website with a nice theme (one that is already available for sale, not a custom one). You could "clone" the theme and its plugins, but at least add your own content.

I don't want anyone to steal my contents and everyone wants that. So, I think it is a matter of morality. But if you have your own site, and you want to make another one from it using the clone plugin then it is ok. Everything depends on how you want to use the plugin.

Why did everyone jump to the conclusion the OP was wanting to steal content, and preach about why it is wrong to do such a thing.

What he asked in the OP was can this be done. I believe he was asking if this was possible, in case he was in jeapordy of losing his site to some thief.

    That was my take anyway.

I agree with you, the other posters responses are very silly and rude, while the OP question is crystal clear.

You know there are quite a few cases where I spent hours and days of hard work to create the design and content on my own. A few months later my Google rankings drop and I realised there are 10s of sites that stole my content/design.

Anyway, not blaming you in any way, maybe you want to know this for security reasons. There is always a way to steal content, whether you do it manually or automated.
