Question about automating online lead capture

Hello,-

I'm a web developer, having just begun getting involved with Internet marketing. I have read some stuff about capturing leads from your website and have this question:

How do you achieve (automate) online lead capture? Let's say you have a site whose purpose is to capture prospects for your business to grow your list; to that end, you have an input form on your site where a visitor can submit his/her name and email address. Where does this data go when the user submits - to an email address (as is usual with HTML forms) or directly to some sort of a database / list management system? In the latter case, do you copy it manually into that system or do you have a program / script for that?

I've been doing web software for some time but have yet to figure out how different parts play together for marketing purposes - like one's CMS, one's client database, newsletter-sending software, etc.

Hope someone will shed some light on this.

Cheers,
Vahagn

  • Vahagn,

All you'll need to accomplish the above is an account with aweber or getresponse. Both are list management/autoresponder systems. If those don't work for you, you can try others such as email aces or another 3rd party script.

Even if you have the experience to create your own script, I wouldn't suggest you do as their are plenty of scripts on the net that can do just what you want - some even free.

If you want to better understand how to harmonize marketing with current technologies, then pick up a good book on relationship marketing.

    Hope this helps.
