I have a windows base software that i would like to run 24 hours a day i done some quick research is this called a Virtual machine?
If so can anyone recommend a good provider?

    Look into "vmWare"

Edit - didn't realise you posted that link, vmWare is second on the list but it's the highest rated amoung the hacking community which tells you something - if they use it, it's good software, trust me B)

I have done this exact same thing - running a software 24x7 without staying connected.

I personally used a storm cloud VPN and connected to it using my local machine and then set the software running. It will keep running until you reconnect and turn it off.

After turning it on you can disconnect from the server (it will keep running) and reconnect back whenever required. What you need is a remote desktop.
