How To Launch New Product - CB or Test First?

I have a couple of information books that I've been working on for a while...I like to write but have a hard time completing them...but one is just about done and I have set a goal to launch a site for one of these books by the end of July.

My question is, should I build the site and launch the product with payment through Paypal, or something like that...OR go straight to Clickbank, pay my $50 and hope for the best. My thought is that I'd like to do some testing on the landing page. You know, drive some traffic to it and see how it does. Tweak it a bit etc...plus I was thinking of building the page myself at first and reinvest anything that I have coming in through my other sites into have a designer build something a little nicer since money is tight at the moment.

Any help would be appreciated since most of the information that I have found on launching a product says to put it out on CB, sell through your own affiliate link etc....which sounds like a good idea but I think that if I don't make a sale within the first month I have to relist, don't I?...which is another 50 bucks, correct? (or buy through your affiliate link, right?

    The fifty bucks, unless they've changed things, is to be able to take payment for your product. A friend of mine has a product that did not sell the first month and he has not had to pay again.

    As for 'hope for the best'; have you thought about how you are going to bring traffic to your site? Whether you sell it on PayPal or CB, this is a necessary step to make money online. I'd suggest concentrating on one or two traffic strategies at first and not try to do too much at once.
    I know I made plenty of mistakes when I first started, but the main thing is to just do something, learn and keep going.

      no...I know that I will have to drive traffic to the product and to think that I'll just throw it out there and let affiliates do all the work is just sort of "pie in the sky" thinking. It would be nice but I know that it won't happen.

      When looking at products I that I promote as an affiliate I want to see some sort of action on the product in terms of gravity, and % of affiliate sales and % of sale to affiliate etc...although I do try to snag new products that I think have value and be one of the first to promote it.

      Thanks for the advice though. I agree...better to do something and have it do ok than wait a year before doing anything in hopes that it will do spectacular.

    This late at night I worded that poorly. What I was looking for was what you were considering for traffic; then I could share what my experience was with that technique without mentioning a traffic strategy you were not going to use. At one time I made a list of 52 ways to get traffic.

    Here's a tip for getting the site indexed quickly, without having to pay.
    I create a blog for the site and use the blog for tips, etc.
    I've never had it take longer than seven days to get a site indexed that way. You can even 'sched' the posts so it looks like you write on a regular basis when you don't.

    I think the indexing occurs because of a setting that has to do with pings. Can't really explain it but it's always worked when I set up a blog for a site.

      I was going to use a combination of blogs, article marketing and I had been looking at an article submission service...not too pricey but more than I might want to spend for any of my affiliate sites right now...and of course, use my affiliate marketing sites to drive traffic to my new product site. I have a few conduit sites that do ok but they're sort of sporadic

    I think you should post a pre-launch WSO so that you can get feedback from fellow warriors, and see if your product sells. After all the comments, tweak your site/product to make it better and you can launch on Clickbank.

      thanks falcon warrior...I'd appreciate the community's feedback when the time comes (end of July) I didn't know what a "WSO" was and googled it "weapons system officer?!"

      I don't have any IM products that I am working on...too competitive for me and although I have a couple of things that I've figured out along the way...not enough for me to feel comfortable in putting a price tag on it.

      i agree with nicholas. when i'm ready to launch my first product i'm going to offer it as a wso so that i can get some honest feedback from my friends at wf.

      doesn't matter what niche it is, i still think you'll get some good buys from wf and some great testimonials. if it is great.

      that'll be like getting paid for seeking market research. a no brainer imho

    I used a VA once to do some article submissions, it was cheaper than a service, and I was in complete control.


    Great idea: falcon warrior. One I haven't seen mentioned before.
