Can Internet Marketing be used to sell legitimate services?

I know the title seems a bit odd. But more often than not, all the IM products, ideas, etc are just scam heath capsules, recycled niche websites promoting junk or even false claims at get rich quick schemes.

I know that not everyone of you does all this, but I wanted to hear out from the experts about how many of you have used your skills to promote real legitimate services like article writing, website re-design and development, mobile application development etc. Does IM work for these kinds of services? Or are these services only good promoted offline or via referrals.

IM can work for anything. I'm an affiliate marketer who sells products/info products to businesses.

I've seen businesses take what they learn, implement, and increase their businesses from these products.

Yeah, there's a lot of scams out there, you just need to do your due diligence.

Yes, I have offered article writing, mobile website design, and all kinds of services selling to business owners.

I also have created eBooks that talked about making money online, and they have sold really well online. And yes, I have done what I preach. The people who create bad products are the people that make the good marketers online look bad.

IM can be used in all sorts of niches.

Internet marketing works with everything including the services you have listed, but to succeed you need to make a good plan, work hard and be patient.

There us nothing Internet marketing cannot be used to sell. Internet marketing can be used to market any type of product or service as long as there is a market for it. It's up to the buyers to perform their due diligence before committing to any purchase.

Actually most IM products are solid, its the buyers that scam themselves. Well perhaps not most. Lets say 50% are good and 50% are bad. But Id say 90% of the time its the buyer who screws themselves over.

I used to produce 30 - 60 second video ads for hire. I got so many orders I finally got tired of spending all my time producing videos.

It's all about getting eyeballs on your sales copy. The product or service is unimportant. The Internet is simply an advertising platform.

Perhaps you're looking at this the wrong way. Internet Marketing is really just marketing that uses the Internet as a medium. In that sense, Apple does it, Google does it, Amazon does it.

I think most people have the idea that Internet Marketing has to do with making money online niche, or that an individual marketer must somehow be behind it that they don't realize any ads, reviews, or recommendations they see online is really Internet marketing at work.

    What about Facebook? Twitter?

How did people first know about them and how did they grow, and continue to do so now? They've used Internet marketing and continues to use it.

It's sad that when many people think about internet marketing they first think of it being a "scam".
The vast majority of us are doing things ethically. However,in order to make money we do need to sell something.

Internet marketing is done by every company online, so of course, it can be done ethically.

      Sunny,

You've been a member here since 2010, and you're still asking this question?

Name any major US business you care to and see if they have a web site. Every single one of them will. And if so, they are using Internet Marketing to sell legitimate services or products.

Internet Marketing seems to mean something different to some IMers, but Internet Marketing is nothing more than marketing products and services on the Internet. There's no distinction on the types of products and services ... From Amazon.com to Microsoft to Apple to Get Rich Quick in Your Pajama schemes, it's all Internet Marketing.

Well, let's look at it logically, Sunny.

Either the answer to that question is "yes", or all services marketed online are illegitimate. Nobody here (including you) imagines that to be so. So the question kind of answers itself, surely?

You must be looking in different places from me. (I look at the Amazon website, most days. I buy all kinds of other things online, as well. Travel, sometimes even clothes, insurance, other financial services, web-hosting ... the list goes on and on. You're not seriously suggesting that all those things are "scams"?!)

Those are all IM-related products/services - not what I promote, myself. But I'm an Amazon affiliate (among other things), and countless Warriors are doing that.

It does, but if you have no successful experience of marketing online, for myself I'd advise you to stay well away from amything IM-related or MMO-related. I think that aspiring marketers getting involved in those niches (in which they'll be competing for the same traffic against some of the world's top online marketers) is a very common mistake and reason for failure.

You've perhaps given slightly odd examples, here. If you're an article-writer, then you need some marketing skills to sell your services, naturally (but plenty of people do that successfully); website design is particularly competitive and sometimes not very well paid, unless you have a very impressive portfolio and testimonials, and it's also a global market, which sometimes tends to reduce prices to the "lowest common denominator".

IM works for any niche. It is just basically driving targeted traffic to what you want to promote. You can promote ANYTHING with it.

Man, are you ever off. So you believe the majority of what's sold online is a scam or recycled or a get rich scheme? If that's what you think why are you here?

Sure it works. I've been selling and licensing photos and image related products for almost 13 years on the internet. In-fact most of my customers come directly from the net.

Internet marketing to some degree is used by almost all industries, if you are looking to bring in 1000's of dollars are day via internet marketing, well you better have a quality service with lots of positive reviews, be willing to put in the time and energy to establish a well planned IM strategy and make sure you follow through completely. It can, has, and does work for many on legitimate basis, but you cannot half-ass it.

What are product reviews for? There are forum threads that also discuss these products/services online. I mean not everything you read online is legitimate but I am sure you can very well tell if the product review is from a good source or not. You can always Google everything online and perhaps those people who think they are scammed are simply not aware of these things.

I certainly agree that most of the products online are legitimate and are operated/owned by legitimated IMers. There are just people who simply are not well informed about the product they are buying and that is why they feel they've been scammed.

Are you being serious? Does IM work for Legitimate Services?

Oh god, this IM industry has really turned into a community of fantasy.

Asking that question is like asking. "Can we market legitimate services offline?"

    What's the difference?

One is on-line and one is offline. That's it!

    Hi,

For the fact that a lot of people make false claims and other negative stuffs on the internet does not mean that internet marketing is bad. There are lots of people doing legitimate business on the internet and they are making a living from it.

The responsibility still lies on you doing n your own due diligence before settling for any system being used by any individual.

Internet marketing can work for any business or field. You just need to find a proven system that works and has the possibility of being adapted into what you intend doing. With some tweaking, the proven system can be adapted to suit your line of expertise.

Another thing that you can do is to search this forum very well and you will begin to discover some people that had carved a niche for themselves and are established in the internet marketing world and perhaps in your niche as well and begin to study them and find out how they rose to that level.

    Hope this works

    Seriously???

Do you think Amazon is "legitimate"? eBay? Zappos? Netflix? Hulu?

    Good grief!

The best thing you can do is get OFF the WF and get OUT of the "IM world." Look around you and use some common sense.

It's easy to get stuck in the IM world and think that that's all that exists. It's not. There's a whole world beyond the WF and the IM/biz op world.

Go beyond the borders of the IM world and observe. A little observation and common sense will answer your question.

    Are you serious?

Ofcource there is a lot of scam products out there - this is the internet - it is the biggest collective of information, products, buyers, sellers ever invented. There is bound to be some scammers lerking in the bushes of the web.

That being said - I can buy fake Nike and Adidas clothing from my nearest market - so you know, it's not something unique to the internet.

On the flip side of the coin - many people have used info-products to: help lose weight, gain more "gold" on their favorite game, increase thier jump in basketball, build their own budget solar panels for thier houses, build houses out of 2nd hand shipping containers, learn how to blog profitably... and the list goes on for a long time .

Yes - there are scam products available.
Yes - there are "less than our high standards" products available.
Yes - there are high quality, great value products available.
and Yes - every once in a while, somebody goes the extra mile to give you superior premium content at an insanely cheap price, excellent value for money....

...just like in the offline world.

In my town we have cheap shops and premium stores, underground dealers and overground specialists - it's the same online.

    Peace.

One of the basics of internet marketing is building an email list. And, this can be used whether you are promoting a product or selling a service such as article writing and allows you to market repeatedly to a group of 'warm prospects and buyers' rather than rely on one off sales for business.
