The domain sounds good but you probably shouldn't have openly exposed it on a site like this before buying it. What are you planning on doing with it and how will you monetize it?

The first thing that comes to mind is a paid business listing directory.

Why in the world would you buy a domain for $100 without a specific plan for it?

There are two problems I see. First, as was mentioned already, the better (dot) com version is already in use. There are going to be issues with confusing one site with the other. That is not good for you, the latecomer.

Second, the name "Virginia Business" is very generic. There are probably hundreds of thousands of businesses in Virginia that the name covers. So unless you're going to develop some kind of business portal limited geographically to the state of Virginia, a niche business just doesn't seem to fit.

As far as CPA offers or an Amazon landing page . . . why would you want to limit those just to Virginia? And if you don't plan to limit them, then the name "Virginia business" has no meaning.

The .com extension of the domain is already developed and people will confound it with the .com extension. It is not a bad domain, but you should not expose domains that you want to register or purchase on public.

Unless you have a great plan for this domain, I wouldn't buy it. There's already a Virginia.org that is an authority site for Virginia. Virginia Business is pretty generic.

I wouldn't be buying this one, myself - and certainly not for $100. If you have a specific plan for it, that might be another matter, I suppose.

(I buy and sell domain-names without putting up websites on them, just the domains themselves, but I rarely pay more than reg-fee for one, and really wouldn't want a .org with established .com competition anyway - it wouldn't be an easy sale for me, to put it mildly).

I have to agree. Have a definite plan in place before you buy a domain. It can be really easy to get into the trap of spending a fortune on domain names that sound good. Then you end up paying the renewal fees on the ones that you have not used yet.

Decide on the plan first and then find a domain to utilize. Also are you planning on strictly seo tactics or on incorporating some ppc, Facebook, etc…?

If you are sticking to paid traffic, then you do not have to spend $100 for a domain name. Pick a decent one related to your field and pay the minimal amount for it.

What everyone else said is good advice, you should take it.

    I'll add this...

.org as an extension is pretty limiting. There is a place for it, but a business resource site is not it.

In addition to all of the reasons already stated, you would be fighting an uphill battle for credibility on a domain like this.

Better to stick with .com (.com = commercial, after all)

Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck. Successfully building out ideas on a domain is not easy to do. I applaud you for trying.

Just save your $100 on this one in particular.

I would not buy it. It has a high trust level, but the domain authority is 1...Not worth it.

No one else is bidding on it. My guess is when the auction is over, make an offer if you have a use for it. If you have no plan then as everyone has suggested, don't buy.

It's a meaningless domain name, with a less than desirable TLD. I would not pay registration fee for it, unless there was a very specific reason you need the exact phrase.

      1. This domain has little or no value.
      2. "business" keyword and .org don't go along.
