Hey Warriors,

With so many sellers telling you to go and promote someone else products, others telling to create your own reports, it tends to be overwhelming to choose where to start.

So, based upon your own experience:

Would you rather do Affiliate Marketing or sell Own Products?
#affiliate marketing #sell own product #would you rather

I would and do - do both.

    I agree with NatesMarketing... Both!

But, if you're feeling overwhelmed, start with affiliate marketing. Once you learn how to sell other people's products you'll have a good inderstanding how to sell your own.

From personal experience it's much easier to promote other products once you've created your own. When you build a list of people who've bought your own stuff, you have a really good idea of what their needs are. Meaning you can cater specific products to them.

The very same scenario I've been picturing.

    Hi,

you can do both if you want and of course if you have the budget, do your own products' sales page, website and other internet marketing stuff that would increase traffic and get more potential customers. Cheers to you for starting your own online business!Hope this helps!

You are always going to make more money if you develop your own products. But, I'll always promote affiliate products.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to 'get started'. Ultimately though you want to sell your own products.

Try both. I will tell you, however, that most of the big name earners that I know sell their own products. Yes, this may come down the road after you have been doing marketing for awhile, but eventually, if you are successful, you will want to create your own high priced products. Having affiliates, IMO, is better than being an affiliate.

I agree 100% here. I don't necessarily think one business model is better than the other, they both have their pros and cons.

If I were you, I would sell my own products and then promote affiliate products along the way.

Doing your own stuff is a better long term strategy, in my opinion. Owning the copyright on something, you can take it a lot of places.

Obviously though, there are some great opportunities with great money as an affiliate though.

As others have said I would start with affiliate marketing so you can learn the ropes of getting traffic, creating responsive lists, increasing conversions. Once you have a good handle on interment marketing you can then spend the time needed to create your own product.

Otherwise you will spend a lot of time creating your own product and then quickly get frustrated when you are not making a lot of sales. Next you will start thinking internet marketing is a scam and give up.

No contest: I'd rather be an affiliate.

I also think that for most aspiring marketers, their chances of success, overall, are significantly higher through affiliate marketing than through product creation.

Here are just ten of my main reasons for thinking this.

Hey, You must know benefits and advantages of both.
Creating your own product need Skills, Money and time but long term cash coming in your account.
Promoting other people product is easy and don't require time to start or any skills but you can't get access to control prices!

    Good Luck!

I think it be better to start out with affiliate marketing since there will be less things to deal with like customer service, sales copies, etc.

But if you do know your stuff in your niche really well, especially if you're experienced in it, it will perhaps be better to create your own products so you can build your customer base for the long term.

Either way, you still have to provide value and do your market research as you need to target your prospects.

I'll go with affiliate marketing to start with as well, this way you can concentrate on promoting the product and not have to worry about creating it.

If you feel comfortable with affiliate marketing, then after a while - you could try creating your own products.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9444922].message }}
  • I prefer to create my own products, because if you create a good product, you will make sales and create a buyer's list. After creating a buyer's list you can now sell them other products which are good.

I prefer to only sell my own products and do no do any affiliate marketing. Everyone has a different philosophy on this.

Crawl before you walk. Start with affiliate marketing. Get a feel for how things work.

Your goal should always be to create your own products down the line so you create your own list of buyers (something you can't do as an affiliate -- in most cases) and you can then also be in the position of having other people promote your products. You should always be looking to use leverage when possible.

I would advise to try it out first by starting as an affiliate, build your list, see how everything works and then come out with your own product. By then, you'll have affiliates and you can still promote other products on the side.

I started out creating and trying to sell my own product. Total flop. Don't do it!

What did work for me though was creating my own free product and using it as a tool to build my list where I could do affiliate marketing.

    I would say both.
However, promoting to a customer list who recently bought your product is the way to go.
The awesome about creating your product is you have an evergreen offer.

If you have the time, done your research and found something the market needs like their next breath, then go for creating your own product. Its a longer process and a bit more challenging if you don't have the money to outsource.

Its way easier to start with affiliate marketing and the payoff is faster.

If you want to invest some money, then you can work on your own products, on the flip side, if you do not want to invest, you must work as a affiliate, you need to work with others products, its clear, no obscure.

How can you make your own product if you don't even know where to start? People make so many useless products nowadays that nobody buys.. So I'd advise you to start with affiliate marketing, learn more about ecommerce, seo, social media, etc. how the whole thing works.. Then consider making your own product. And make sure you yourself would actually want it.
