Monetizing a Media site with 3000 visits per month

Hi Guys,

I have site which has been operational for around 8 months. It is currently getting around 3000-5000 visits per month. It is a niche site targeted at the specific demographic group. It is news, media and entertainment site. Not aimed at product reviews etc. It has lots of pictures, gossip, news etc

My traffic percentage is 30% from India, 40% per US and rest from ROW. My traffic has been seeing a 12-15% percentage increase per month. US and European traffic has been increasing

I have adsense on my site, but it does not give me much revenue. I dont have any Mobile ads either. It is optimized for mobile also.

Can any body please suggest how i can better monetize it. Any Ad networks that i can leverage. Should i buy leads or traffic from Seoclerks etc.

    If your traffic is decent then you can opt for affiliate marketing which converts really well.

    Getting more and more social share will definitely help the site to increase the rank on google. So you will get more organic visitors and organic visitors are the best way to get more AdSense revenue.

    Check out your competition. How are they monitizing their site? Adsense, affiliate offers, CPA, other ad networks. Copy what they are doing and see if your numbers improve.

    I've never target ads towards India but I found this page that might be helpful to start you off

    I don't know if you need to live in India to use these networks but they are worth checking out.

      Get Ghostry plugin for Firefox --- tells you what ad network pixel a site has --- then go to competitor's sites.

      And then put their url into quantcast/alexa.

      But as I say your CPM price for just 4000 visitors a month! Won't pay too well --- but I guess this will be a good learning exercise for you!

    Ad networks give low rates for any clicks you get, so depending on Adsense or anything like it won't end up being a profitable solution. Sell ad space and you will earn more.

    First try to increase organic traffic first as it will helpful in improving your adsense income. If you're looking for other networks than stop. No one going to pay as much like adsense if you're not opting for direct ads...

    You could try CPA networks like maxbounty --- or try offervault that aggregates them. Many CPA networks will only allow US traffic --- so you may be in a piddle unless you use affiliate cloaking, and even then I think they can determine WHERE the traffic comes from.

    Indian traffic (not from a moral standpoint or a reflection on India) is looked down on from an economic standpoint.

    You could write reviews/articles that link to decent payout infoproducts.

    Or you could use a network like buysellads.com.

    Although I doubt you'll have the inventory to make a killing --- with typical CPM rates @ maybe $5.... I'd go with the high payout affilate stuff like ClickBank.

    Don't buy traffic. I know everyone will say that buying traffic is a good idea. But, that traffic doesn't belong to you. The traffic is bot generated and that's not something which will benefit your site. If you really want to hire someone, then hire a professional writer to optimize your website copy and content. This is the best investment of your money now. If you don't already have an opt in list, start one. Again, this is where a professional copywriter will come into play.
