Hi all,

I am interested in getting your perspective on the top three things you would suggest a newbie do when they are starting out; whether that is taking a certain course, starting a website, joining WarriorForum, etc.

Thanks!

#1. I suggest the newbie have a plan.
#2. I suggest their plan should include dollar goals and time lines.
#3. I suggest they confer with someone who has DONE their plan and solicit advice.

Why take any action until you have an idea of WHERE you want to go, why you want to get their and then get a MAP.

AAA still provides trip tiks and maps to it's members.

If you want to get to CA from Ohio, you don't drive East, North or South...you head West.

The experience of too many Warriors (the just DO it and dive right in types) is after months, or years, they have driven all over the map and haven't reached their goal.

The hardest part is asking yourself, What do I want? and Why do I want it?

Then you have to identify what IT looks like, otherwise, you might just go right past it on your road to nowhere.

    gjabiz

PS A quick look over the forum, you'll see too many stories of detours, wrecks and crashes and ending up in a place opposite of where they wanted to go. So, a PLAN would be a good first step to take.

I think this is great advice! Although, some people get entirely too caught up in trying to get every single little detail panned out... Using the same analogy planning exactly what gas stations they will stop at, at what time, etc on their trip...

Get a good basic outline down, with details where you can add them -- $$ amounts, modes of transportation, etc being very important... and then start the journey... otherwise you will never leave the house, so to speak.

    1. Work to understand what's possible with the particular approach or systems you have bought into mentally (They are not the only way to focus your efforts to make money)

    2. Be clear on what you are willing to do to make that money.
(Sit at the computer for hours on end, experience massive trial and error situations, invest money into ideas which you really have no clear idea what the success rate will be until you find what works for you - is it worth it? Is it really the right approach for you? Should think about it)

    3. Be clear how you want to position yourself publicly. What products, methods, people do you want to be associated to you. Is it how you envision yourself deep down? Or is the chance to 'get money' causing you to dismiss that thought for later?

    4. Find some approach which has some element of strategy in it. Something that can allow you to multiply your efforts eventually, not just pay you marginally for a ton of hours put in and then just sputter out forcing you to start over again and again.

    5. Find something you are naturally interested and interact with people with the same interest. Something real to life and not about business or moneymaking.

    6. Offer to help people in whichever topic you can help.. and get used to creating contacts of people who aren't really friends, they are just people who know you are helpful and knowledgeable. (This skill is one of the most valuable things you can develop) Once you develop this skill somewhat, you can apply it to different subjects you don't know as well and just start learning things on the fly.

    7. Make it your mission to seek out and make contact with the people who you have access to (directly or indirectly) have the the most 'valuable' problems. The more people you can interact with and get their trust who have valuable problems opens massive opportunities. The problem solving can be done easily the more contacts you have who you can speak with.

    8. Find a topic of attractive interest to others and which you can regularly speak or write about and take steps to collect their contact information to keep them updated on your valuable ideas, projects, and stories etc

    9. Learn a little Internet marketing promotions skills or work out a deal to have someone else do it for a cut of the profits.

    1. Have a plan which includes building a list.
    2. Learn how to drive traffic
    3. Learn how to increase conversions.

If you learn these 3 things and perfect them anybody can succeed.

    1. Know clearly what your end goal is. What exactly is it you want to do?
    2. Get your head in the right place.
    3. Clearly define who your ideal customer is. What are their pain points, desires, fears etc.

Then get onto the stuff like list building, learning ONE form of traffic till you master it…etc.

    Just my opinion :-)

I love the mentor part. This I think was/is key for me. It was hard to find one though and I just happened to stumbleupon mine, but are there any easier ways to find mentors? Like is there a mentor-connection site?

It depends on your talents to be honest and your aims - if you want to get rich then better start working hard and putting in the hours - want a nice wage? then learn a skill: sales copy writing, web design, graphic design, blog writing etc.

Starting with a skill based job is a good way to learn new things, meet new people and earn a nice little wage while doing so...

But if you want to get rich you need to think bigger. Like creating a product to sell to millions
It's a numbers game after-all, you just need to do the math.

      - Decide on what you want to do. (Which business model you want to follow)
      - Learn sufficient to start up (You don't have to know everything, the bulk of relevant knowledge is learnt while "doing")

      - Work hard on your stuff

      - Get a mentor (It is easier to get a mentor when you know what you want to do and it is easier to help someone who is already doing something)

I'm still just starting in a way. I've had three ventures fail so far, but I at least made my money back on them. So I wouldn't say complete failures.

Biggest mistake? I had absolutely no map drawn up, with set goals, standards, and really didn't know what I wanted or what I was doing.

Now I am researching every day, I am finding all sorts of information out there the trick now is just not getting an overload!

I've also been looking into finding a mentor for my next adventure.

Don't get discouraged, I let that happen a couple times and I wasted SOOOO much time waiting to feel better again when I could've been working!

I think most who struggle make this same mistake. I know I did!

Start with a plan based on what you want to achieve and when you want to achieve it by.

Then, pick one of the IM or MMO paths (there are many) that best suit your abilities and match up with your desired goals.

If you don't create a plan for yourself, odds are, you'll be floating aimlessly around this forum for another year, hopping from Shiny Object to Shiny Object.

    Here are my tips:

    1) Get an autoresponder

    2) Select a niche for product creation

    3) Get your OWN website

From these 3 everything else will follow. Once you have this set up, you can spend your time on marketing, and creating new backend products. Learn how to use these 3 tools effectively, make sure you're in a niche where you can get your site seen ALOT from paid advertising efforts. Good luck!

Above all ,you need to get your mind right, don't worry about the technical stuff. Get your mindset right and the technical stuff will take of itself.

    But for starters,

    1. Find a mentor
    2. Find an offer to promote
    3. Create a squeeze page and offer a free report or a video training series to entice people to opt in
    3. Create a sales funnel
    5. Get an autoresponder
    6. Send traffic to the squeeze page
    7. Follow up with your list by building a relationship and solving their problems
    8. Scale Up

That's a little more than 3 steps, but it was kind of hard to squeeze all that into 3.

You can get started in 5 or 6 easy steps. Almost completely free. Here are the essentials.

        1. Get a Gmail account for all of your essential communications and use it to join the essential companies.
        Cost = Free

        2. Get a PayPal account, so you can send & receive money. Use your Gmail address to signup with PayPal.
        Cost = Free

        3. Get a reliable website host for the purpose of creating your own website for the purpose of creating your own online business. Most marketers use BlueHost.com and/or HostGator.com. You will also need a domain name that relates to your business. Do a little research on selecting a domain name, but make sure it relates to your business. Use your Gmail address to signup with a website host.
Webhost Cost = About $7 per month or about $70.00 a year. Depends on the offers at this date.
Domain Name Cost = $8 to $12 per year.

        3. Start a website that you can "learn as you move forward" and make money with at this stage. WordPress.org is free and makes available hundreds of free WordPress themes. However, if you are learning the ropes most experienced marketers suggest a premium (paid) theme that supports your business objectives, so you do not have to re-learn everything at a later date. Use your Gmail address if you select a premium website.
Cost = Free to hundreds of dollars, but a good premium theme can run $25 to $50.

        4. Autoresponder or Email Service providers are important if you decide to promote your own product or affiliate products. GetResponse andAweber are popular in the marketing industry. Both offer free one-month or free two-week accounts, so you can learn as you move forward. Later, you can upgrade to a regular monthly payment. Use your Gmail address to join.
Cost = Free for the fist month or two weeks.

        5. Affiliate Marketing is a good source of income and there are many ways to go about it, but to "get started" and learn some ropes.. join marketplaces that allow you to join as an affiliate. JVZoo, WarriorPlus, ClickBank and WarriorPayments are a good start and they are free to join. They are all good to "source" products/services that you promote on your website. Use your Gmail address to signup with the marketplaces.
        Cost = Free

Once you have accomplished all of that you are an Established Marketer.

        Best of luck,
        Jeffery 100% :-)

    1. decide what niche/niches you will be participating in.

    2. Brainstorm to determine how your sites will look and function

    3. register domains. Even if you do not end up using them, at least have them registered.

    4. Create, buy, collect any and all content you will use for your site/sites.

    5. Get your hosting account and start building your site.

    6. while you are doing this you should put together your autoresponder sequence (at least 3 months worth of emails.

    7. Find products to promote and join appropriate affiliate networks.

This should be enough to get you started.

When I started getting serious about IM, I spent a few weeks on WF, reading as much as I could, downloading ebooks, just trying to learn as much as possible about affiliate marketing and SEO. You really need a good foundation in the basics before you start creating your own products or building a real IM business.

This was in 2009, so I'm not sure the best approach now, but I do know I wouldn't recommend IM to unemployed people anymore, it's just not as easy nowadays for rookies as it was a few years ago.

Being a newbie in IM sucks big time. There are too many ways to get distracted and too many different ways to make money online. I got distracted a lot and had the "shiny object syndrome" which just caused "analysis paralysis" on my end.

      My advice start with

      1. Sign up for autoresponder
      2. Build a list
      3. Join a community/membership of like minded people.

      Good luck

I am not a guru but suggest these tasks:
1- Build Your Email List And Learn how to make money while building your email list. You can earn up to$1 per subscribers opt-in instantly! For free traffic you can do clickbanking and ad swaps.
2- Learn how to rank videos in youtube and then publish videos reviewing hot products. You will earn $50-$75 per day doing this.
3- These days, people are creating websites in under 1 hours which bring 100.000 unique visitors per month on autopilot. Learn and action to create those websites. You can even earn $1000 to sell each website like that in Flippa.

Hope my word can help you

  • MskIM,

If the newbie REALLY wants to build a long term global business with online and brick and mortar back end and front end systems, then I suggest the following:

    *** First set of things is to learn brick and mortar business fundamentals, offline business-to-business and business-to-consumer sales / marketing basics, offline advertising fundamentals and business PPTs (People, Processes, Technologies);

*** Second set of things is to use what you learned from the things above to also learn online business fundamentals, online business-to-business and business-to-consumer sales / marketing basics, online advertising fundamentals and online business PPTs; and

*** Third set of things is to create a business plan with offline / online back end and front end systems for hiring the right people to execute and improve your plan, for executing and improving the right processes to get traffic / subscribers / sales and to provide effective before and after sales support, and for integrating the right technologies into your front end and back end systems to streamline the execution and tracking / monitoring / improvement of your processes by your employees, contractors, suppliers and strategic partners...
