Starting a sunglass brand

Hey everyone! I have a question. I have an idea for a sunglass brand. I want to create this business. I have the name and entire business plan down, I just cannot find anywhere to have them made. I have been searching google for a couple of months now, looking for a manufacturer/supplier that will allow me to have my logo on the sides of the frames. Ideally id like it to not be just printed on, but instead be a different piece, like ray bans have their name on the sides.

I have searched for private labeling companies, but have had a lot of trouble finding any reliable ones that are not sketchy or scams. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

I've got a friend who's connected with several import/export agents in China. I know she could get it done but have no idea what it would cost. I also met a guy earlier this year that has actually done what you want to do. He created his own line of sunglasses. Had them made in China. Upper end glasses. He sells them for between $100 and $150.

Have you marketed this type of product before? Just wondering if you have experience in the industry. Also, you might consider some type of patent for your idea before you contract with someone to have your item made.

I think CHINA is a country, where you can get anything, which you want. I have seen many factory, when I was in CHINA. There are many manufacturing factory, who can do the work as yo need. I am sure there is no problem to the brand name, if there is no Trade mark, in your country. But if anyone have already taken the name, you will not be able to take the name.

Have the biggest 3D printing eyeglass company. It is called Protos Eyewear. You can google us to see. We can print for you if you have enough pairs or help you develop in China if you want to go that route we have connections for that as well.

Be prepared for a lot of hurdles if you go the China manufacturing route with everything from language, design, and time delay issues to getting your product out of x-ray at US Customs in time as they can hold them for quite sometime with chinese imports.

The game is now all China as others have said. A lot of people think of China as cheep shit products, but that is just what the customer ordered. They can do quality. Look no further than iPhone and Nike.

Go to alibaba and type in sunglasses. Talk to the owner/manager/whoever is in charge. Use business common sense. An acquaintance of mine owned a sizable shoe factory in my state. Around 1996 he closed down the factory and moved production to China. Basically, he had to because all his competitors were doing the same thing. I'm not sure how he got the first contact but he actually went to China to meet them face to face. They have a tight relationship -- when his daughter got married the Chinese business men came to the US for the celebration.

Keep your eye on quality control. Hire a lawyer to make a contract.

BTY, if you don't have the Trademark yet, do that first. You can hire an attorney, but it's not hard to do it yourself on the USPO site. I think it's like $270 or such. Look into international trademarks especially in China. Trademarks are controlled by The Madrid System. Look it up.

You want to avoid (if possible) grey market products. Your Chinese manufacture might keep the assembly line going after your order is finished and then use inferior components and sell them to a middle man. Make sure this kind of thing is in your contract.
