Honestly, a good mentor is generally someone that will help you for free. They have generally been in your shoes and someone helped them along the way and they are paying it forward. Many of the more experienced people on Warrior have the potential to be great mentors. If you see someone whose responses continually resonate with you perhaps PM them and see if they would have time to talk once a month to answer questions and offer you guidance.

I have to disagree with that. A lot of people on this forum would be happy to 'mentor' people but sadly majority of them would just be making things up as they go along. They are not the type of people you want to learn from.

Go and find the movers and shakers and beg them to work with you.

Yes. I think there are many people who are more than willing to help for free, but if paying is needed and you can't, as a newbie, afford the mentor for coaching you, then do what you can do you can make it up.

I for one have helped people for free, and have done so without expecting much upfront. I think it's also about what you think of as a free coaching.

I don't teach through Skype because it eats up too much of my time. If you ever want my help, I can only do it through email and that's it.

You go and find the one person who is already getting the results you want to achieve. The worst mentors and coaches (generally speaking -- there are exceptions) are those who are advertising their coaching services. Most of these people you will find are simply making their money by teaching and not doing. These are not the people you want to learn from. You want to learn from those people who don't have time to teach because they are too busy doing things and making money. Those mentors will be harder to get but will be worth way much more to you.

To be truthful, there's no "One Mentor Fits All". I know there are a lot of mentors here, but in order to find the right one for you, you just need to touch base and contact them personally. That way, you can feel the vibe and decide whether you two are a good fit.

Some mentors have "The Big Picture" approach with flair, some like to micro manage. Some may be brash and say it like it is, some prefer classroom style approach.

Point is you need to talk to them personally, and see who you are comfortable with and gravitate to (law of attraction I guess). Set up a skype call or just call their cell number. Most of them do welcome your inquiries.

Once you have shortlisted them, then you can ask for performance reviews for your shortlisted mentors here. That's a better approach than simply asking "Who is the best mentor"

    Hey luhur99

I recently did a blog post related to this question.

But to answer your question, it is always best to find someone that has already accomplished what you are trying to.

If you do this, then of course, you have a set plan of actions that have already been proven by someone else. . . which means that you will be on the fastest path to making progress.

Don't just choose ANY mentor, try to pick someone who really knows what they are talking about, and have already succeeded in the area in which you want to.

    Hope this helps!

There are alot of them out there. It's tough dealing with a service provider like a coach or mentor because you may not feel that your investment (and time) wasn't equivalent to the amount of money that you've earned. But if you want to find them, they're everywhere. There are some good ones here on this forum, and there are other great ones outside of this forum. You have to find someone who's actually making money (in all kinds of niches) so that you know that they're system can be applied to you easily.
