The Not So Expert Warriors

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how many signature links people have that claim they made $xxx,xx is just 3 days or one week and so on.

Most people have landing pages claiming they are the go to Guru then if you check some of their older posts their asking questions like "how do I set aweber up on wordpress" and so on.

I mean come on, I would have thought they would no simple things like that if they're making so much money.... or are they?

I think NOT.

Also, I think a lot of this has to do with new people making money by trying to teach others how to make money. They know nothing of the industry and have to use false claims and lie to get sales.
      Hi JosephC,

Yea man your right. There is some good info here but I find the main forum here has a lot of shady members.

I try to give out my advice based on actual experience, I think we need more people in this part of the forum with real world experience when it comes to an online business and not simply dishing out bad advice like, go build a list!

If I hear that one more time I think am gonna scream ha!

There is so much more to building a business online than just selling digital products and building a list of desperate buyers.

I would agree, but most shady members do not stick around for long. They end up getting banned or they dont get any sales and leave

There are some very talented marketers on this forum. Sure, some might not know much about business, but some are very experienced. This is the largest internet marketing forum. There is going to be a mix of both. lol

I totally agree! I do not base my traffic on building a list like most marketers. I use email to follow up with buyers. I don't use PPC traffic or promote affiliate offers for my business so I do not send traffic to a squeeze page. Something I have learned from an experienced marketer is

If you want to get sales, make some cool sh*t.
I dont like to force my buyers to buy my stuff. I like them to WANT the product and I get sales and people who enjoy my product who I can market to.

Glad to see we agree Welcome to the forum!

When it comes to signatures, I think you will find two types. The first type promises something of value, while the second type is the kind you are referring to.....make $xx,xxx.00 in less than a week etc. Your good judgement needs to separate the two. PLUS, as you should know by now, there are no overnight riches in I.M. If the signature leads you to believe that you can make a ton of money in no time at all, you would be well advised to not bother with it.

When it comes to Signatures... Mine is clearly the best!

Anyway, I remember seeing a thread where someone ask "How to get more traffic to my blog"

His signature: How to build a profitable blog in 30 days...

    Forum marketing 101 there guys!

Many members here fall for those =>> The targets of those guys and girls are members who don't even have significant knowledge and experience in brick and mortar business fundamentals, in offline advertising and marketing basics and in business PPTs (People, Process, Technologies)...

Perhaps they're just cheap sons and daughters of b*t*h*s? Or maybe they don't have or don't want to hire (or don't have enough resources to hire or maintain) consultants or partner companies or contractors or employees that specialize in these things?

There is definitely a LOT of the blind leading the blind in this industry. You had better get used to it. The best thing you can do for yourself is to become good at spotting those people who are faking it till they make it. After a while they are fairly easy to recognize.

Refer to the sigs in some of the posts above, and to the other posts that'd soon be populating this thread...

See what I mean? Many of them are pimping info "products" for learning how to make money online =>> That's why.

I understand where you're coming from, but just because some people have signed up a couple of days ago, doesn't mean they don't know what they're talking about. They're a lot of people out there that don't do the whole forum thing but make good money online.

I was one of those people until I took a break and all my properties went to crap and lost their rankings because I was starting school.

But for other people you can just tell they're just looking to make a quick buck without giving any actual VALUE. Those are the a$$hats.

Income claims are just that . . . "claims" . . . which anyone can make and easily fake (doctored screen shots, etc) online.

I have never, and will never do that sort of thing. How much money I make is no one's business but my own.

          Here's the thing -

It's irrelevant how much someone else makes - it has no bearing on how much you are going to make!

We are all different when it comes to creating, building, and running a business. We bring different levels of intelligence, business skill, and training/experience to the table. We have different amounts of time to work on a business, different business budgets, and different customers who might buy from us.

We have differing levels of persistence, discipline, and ability to solve problems when they arise. We have different business goals and are driven by different passions and environments. We have a very diverse support group, spouses that may or may not want us to be doing IM, and varying potential to hire mentors, coaches, and get help from friends.

All these variables can weigh on our ability to be successful or not. They can influence how well we do in business.

And don't forget timing. The guru may have made his fortune years ago when conditions were very different and markets were less competitive.

Take all the income claims you see and consider them about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

When you talk to a friend or associate offline they probably are not going to talk about their income and you are not going to ask. In regards to Internet income stating income in general terms is viewed as acceptable (at least by me) i.e. 6 figure earner, full time Internet income, Internet millionaire, and so on...

But I am always more interested in what I am earning, or will earn in the future, then what anyone else is earning, and I read statements, forum posts, sig files, reports, ebooks, etc with that in mind.

        Devil's Advocate here...

Please, correct me if I have this wrong, but I thought this was a forum for learning how to become an online "marketer".

With that being said you can't really be upset with "marketers" for practicing what we all come to this forum for.

Also, keep in mind that we have all levels of marketers on the forum from the very new marketers to the most advanced. With time and experience those signatures will either get better or they fall off all together. Only time will tell.

I just heard something about the company porting Justin Beibers new fragrance not doing so well in the market. Perhaps he stinks a bit too much right now too.

As usual, it is probably best to try to achieve goals by setting a good example as opposed to criticizing.

With that is mind though I am really dismayed at the number of coaching offers in the Warrior Special Offers that focus on quick and inexpensive product creation to make "big bucks".

The main theory of most of them is to feel good about yourself because you know all your need to know to throw a info product together in a couple days and make some quick sales. Then, rinse and repeat because someone is bound to buy sooner or later.

I suppose it has always been that way to some extent both offline and online but it seems that this form of coaching is more openly accepted as a realistic form of business lately instead of the shallow money grab that it normally turns out to be.

Whining can be somewhat therapeutic. I feel the dust rustling in my brain.
