REALLY..... This is ALL it Takes to Get as Wealthy as You Want.....

If you learn to actually sell than you will never be poor.

Recession or not, there are groups of people who are looking for solutions to their problems.

Learn to identify them, what their problems are..... and sell them a solution.

That solution could be something you create or something you "middle man".

When I was in college. one of my business professors presented a mock scenerio to see how his students (of which I was one) would respond.

The scenerio......

We were running an 18 wheeler truck through Alaska in the dead of winter with a trailer full of window airconditioner units when the truck breaks down in a small village.

We had no money and the only way to raise the money to buy the parts needed to fix the truck was to sell all the airconditioners - in the dead of an Alaskan winter.

How do we do it?
People came up with all sorts of ways...... most of which were akin to:

Offer "buy 1 get 1".... Offer free installation..... Sell at steep discount"

What I did (and how I won that contest)

I was selling these A/C units in winter, to ALASKAN villagers.

I knew one of their problems was not a need for airconditioning.

What did they need?...... HEATING.

With a truckload of A/Cs....... one might think I was screwed. Nope.

I sold all the AC units as heaters with FREE installation.

Anyone who bought had me show up and install an A/C backwards in their window. This turned an A/C into a heater since the HEAT those units expell out the back OUTSIDE...... is now being expelled INSIDE because the back becomes the front.

The point is:

I found a market.... found a need..... figured out to a way to use what I had to create a SOLUTION.

Learn to do that = never be POOR.

Trust me. I've used this basic ideology of finding simple solutions to solve problems to create more wealth than most create in an entire lifetime.

You hit it right on the head, you must become a seller of something. Most people in the I.M. field buy too much, and don't sell enough.

Great information. Glad to see someone sharing valuable tips instead of telling people to invest in AdSense sites lol!

    Ben,

Love the AC in Alaska idea.

When I was a teenager, my brother once said I could sell ice cubes to Eskimos. Without missing a beat, I said "Put food coloring in them and sell 'em as decorator tiles."

Are you sure you found a market and a need?

Most likely, since it is Alaska, and it is the middle of winter, everyone already has plenty of heaters.

If they didn't have a heater they were probably frozen dead and unable to buy anything.

    -----

Why was the company running ac units through Alaska in the middle of winter?

Solve that problem and you can make some money selling it the company.

Maybe better than trying to convince someone in Alaska to install an a/c unit backwards, where they have to go outside in the freezing cold to adjust a dial, and somehow have to figure out how to plug it in.

Instead of just buying a heater.

    ----

Another solution where you don't have to raise money ...

Use the a/c parts to help the local kid fix his sled and enter the sled racing contest. You bet the 18 wheeler for parts. If the boy wins you get the parts and the boy. If you lose it will be a long winter. I've seen this play out on the big screen and it's a winner.

    ---

Question - are you actually selling? Or just thinking of a possible solution.

Two different things in my view. Example: two different offers on the forum have the same solution to a SEO problem - they both get backlinks from acme.

One offer sells a 1000 orders. The other sells 5. The difference is knowing how to sell.

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't breathing the air that's expelled from ACs dangerous?

Nope. Out of high school but before college, I was an HVAC tech (AC guy). While impractical, the idea isn't dangerous.

Also worthy of note: I never actually DID this. There are a plethora of reasons why it's impractical.

The story is just that...... a STORY...... to illustrate a point.

Selling which could also be served as providing your service but learning how to sell is recession proof.

Actually, refrigerators and air conditioners sell very well in countries with freezing climates. Specifically Alaska and Greenland. The reason is almost the same as to why they sell very well in hot climates. Life essentials such as food and medicine that require refrigeration and cool temperatures. When stored outside in freezing temperatures some food and medicines would freeze beyond what a human can consume. Learned that "the hard way" when stationed in Greenland back in the day, lol.
