What would be a perfect eLearning platform for the IM industry?

Dear Warriors,

As some of you might be aware, I am from the eLearning industry and I need your help.

I want to be able to understand the IM industry in depth so that the exact needs specific to IMers can be addressed in an eLearning platform. I have searched many threads on this forum and so many people are looking for a robust platform to disseminate their knowledge and sometimes products. Here we have business coaches, experts and video/content owners wanting to share/sell their stuff using a platform that understands them.

Here are a few questions that come to my mind and I could really use your help:

0. Do you think a robust eLearning platform which can help you setup an online school/netversity could be useful in taking your business to the next level?

1. What are the primary features that you would look for in an eLearning platform?

2. How much would you be willing to pay per student per month for such a service?

3. How important is customer service to you - knowing that IMers are usually good with IT stuff.

4. Do you think an eLearning platform can help deliver your content in a more structured way? If yes/no why?

5. I have seen that most marketers use video as the mode of delivery of their courses. How could that be enhanced using eLearning solutions?

6. What is the average number of learners that you have enrolled in an IM course? Do you charge a monthly or a one time fees? Do you offer a certificate post completion?

7. What are the current challenges you are facing with the delivery of your knowledge, skill, product or course?

8. What would your NUMBER ONE requirement from an eLearning system?

Any inputs will help us make ScholarLMS more suitable for the IM industry. I thank you in advance for your support and help.

Sincerely,

Santosh Pandey

    Santosh,

I use a membership site platform to provide the "elearning" environment that I want. It has everything I need in the way of features, security, and user friendliness. My members can watch video, listen to audio, receive downloads, interact with one another, share their own content etc.

To be honest, I can't think of anything that I need that's not already available to me as the platforms scales and can serve many thousands of users. I am very happy with my current set-up.

    Good luck to you,

    Steve

Thanks Steve, for your inputs. I am happy that you have found an ideal platform for your requirements.

I can see what all features you need in an LMS. It will be great if you can share the cost per learner you are paying or are willing to pay in the future for the platform that you use.

      Thanks!

        Santosh,

I don't track the cost/learner per se, I just include the cost of the software, hosting, etc, as a business expense. If I were to figure the cost/learner, I could calculate the total number of paid members divided by the business expense to run the platform.

Obviously, the more members one has that are paying for the monthly subscription, the lower the cost/learner will be. One of my sites, for instance, has a monthly cost of approximately $80. But when I divide that cost among all the paying members, the cost/learner is only a few cents each month - a figure not worth worrying about. I just count the cost to run the site as part of my total business expense.

        I wish you well.
