Many "guest blogging services" are being deindexed, and their users' sites heavily penalized, by Google, recently and right now.

(Perhaps you heard what happened to "MyBlogGuest"? They're not the only ones! )

That makes it perhaps about as questionable a business model as there can be, really? It would be a strange decision indeed, for anyone to want to set one up at the moment. And that's perhaps putting it mildly. I'd probably even rather set up an article directory than a guest blogging service (and that would be a pretty weird decision, at the moment!).

I appreciate, of course, that guest blogging - correctly done - need not have anything to do with SEO at all, but many people don't. And that's the point - that's why it's such a potential problem: anything that presents itself as a "guest blogging service" is always going to have the potential to look to Google (either now or in a future algorithm-change) like it's possibly designed to exploit their site-ranking algorithms, i.e. to be primarily/partly for SEO purposes.

It's not easy to imagine that it can possibly be an "easy sell", at the moment, with Google clamping down as they are?

Call me unadventurous, but it's something I'd stay well away from, myself.

There are a number of vendors here who sell guest posts. But many of these sites are being de-indexed, that's another reason why someone shouldn't get into this biz.

Guest blogging service is profitable if you correctly connect blog owners and guest posters. To start getting clients you can advertise on high trafficked blogs. like: shoemoney, johnchow and etc...

There are plenty on FIVERR now. Just type in blogging services. Plenty of PR2 blogs are ready to go. Frankly, this is a common service. It is almost as pop as reviews. Yeah, those are also max pop. Google is a pain. Like they are always playing hard ball with us. OK so a person charges you money. What about an actor promoting a product for their sponsor. Like they are also being paid money. Folks, we need other search engine. Yahoo is looking better to me.

You'll make more money than writing articles, but you'll need to do all the outreach, especially in the beginning when building up a network of sites.

I know a company that does this effectively and makes good money.

It works for some but not for others. Test it out. Give it a try to see if it works for you.

Do it for 2-3 weeks and if you are not seeing any results that you might be looking for, discontinue it.

Sounds like you might need to clarify what you mean by "guest blogging service."

If you're talking about a service like "MyBlogGuest" or owning your own content farm, go back and read Alexa's post again.

If you're talking about a service business, working for clients like offline companies creating and/or placing unique content as guest posts, you might have something. Kind of a combination ghost writer/publicist idea.

Depending on your resources and talents, it could be something worthwhile as long as you keep in mind that you'll have to be both the marketing/sales department and provide/manage the service.

  • Inzy,

There are many ways to tackle this. One is to promote your business as an advertorial placement service in heavily trafficked niche publication outlets that will provide your customers with brand positioning and traffic funneling benefits. However:

=>> How can you guarantee an advertorial placement spot in the niche publication outlets that your customers would want to tap?

You can try offering these niche publication outlets money, kind words, beer, mind-blowing content and so on, but =>> In this regard, you don't have control, unless you pre-establish a mutually beneficial agreement between your business and a long list of heavily trafficked publication outlets under what you believe would be heavily demanded niches by your target customers, which will accept your advertorial placement requests in exchange for a fixed amount of money (or kind words or beer or mind-blowing content), based on your agreement...

Hold your horses everyone! If you cut through all of the hype around blog networks being deindexed and "Matt Cutts said this about guest posting", you'll see that its a spammy approach to guest posting that'll land you in hot water (and I don't even consider this approach guest posting at all; its just old-fashioned link spam). If you are providing quality, unique content that engages the reader and adds value you will have absolutely no problems with guest posting; quite the opposite in fact, you'll be a roaring success.

Make it quality, make it relevant, make it useful.

    Hope this helps.
