PayPal and MMO products

I heard you can't sell MMO products with PayPal. The last time I sold MMO product was years ago, when there was no such rumor. So, is it true, you can't sell MMO products with PayPal nowadays? Will PayPal limit your account if they find out you're selling MMO products?

P.S MMO = making money online

    Rumours aren't true...

The main payment processors for MMO products Jvzoo, Warriorplus, Warrior payments etc all use paypal. So no problems at all.

    Never heard this rumor.

PayPal doesn't want crap sold. (high refunds)

So...if your "MMO" product is crap....PayPal will not want it.

They don't like scam products obviously and they don't like MLM or anything that you have to pay to join to then promote. Circle of misery type of products.

I have heard rumors to that effect. Too many crap products which lead to chargebacks. It could eventually lead to Paypal scrutinizing MMO or IM products before approving them. Hard to say if and will that will happen. Paypal probably has other pressing issues on their agenda. My two sense!

    No, it isn't.

But it's also not exactly "totally fictitious", either. It's just slightly missing the point.

The reality is that people who sell MMO products via PayPal are actually slightly more likely than others to encounter PayPal problems.

The main reason for that is that PayPal has its own, internal "account risk-assessment" process, and several of the "risks" assessed, from their perspective, do actually overlap to some extent with "MMO product sales".

For example, they dislike anything with a high refund-rate, anything connected with what they think is MLM (and their definitions of it are very broad), anything with non-FTC-compliant sales page, anything that rests on income-claims (which are mostly non-FTC-compliant anyway), and so on.

As you can see, there's quite some overlap between those factors and MMO-product sales.

In short, it isn't the "selling of MMO products" in itself which puts PayPal on the alert, but it's possible for some of the things commonly associated with MMO sales to do so.
