What's Your Most Effective Daily Task? (2 Quick Questions)

And also, what takes up the most time while doing this?

For me, my most effective daily task is sending out e-mails to business owners; however, the most time consuming aspect of this is going to individual business owner's websites and having to extract the e-mails, put them into a spreadsheet, using the rapportive hack, etc.

I ask this question so we can help each other become more productive, so please respond and help everyone else

Are we strictly talking about business tasks here? I genuinely believe the most effective thing I do is making sure I wake up early and start working early, as I get twice as much done as if I wake up late and work until late (this definitely isn't what I think in those few moments after I open my eyes early in the morning though )

In terms of the most effective activity I've ever done for my business, I would have to say it is taking the time to network. Too many people just hide behind their computer and don't actually get involved in the industry that they work in, which (in my opinion) really limits how far you can progress and the number of opportunities that you come across.

Maintain relationships -- sending out one or two follow up emails every day, checking in with past contacts (not even clients). Ultimately, these connections lead to referrals and more word-of-mouth traffic.

Email is also my nemesis - I like things to be organized and in their place and this takes up a bunch of my time and drives me crazy.

Man if you ask me 20 times on 20 days, you'd get 20*20 answers.

To be honest though, I would say the my biggest breakthroughs have always taken place AWAY from technology.

The best thing I do is brainstorm, think, and focus.

Coming in a close second is crafting a nasty email to my list of course...

But often times the best thoughts come flowing when I'm out on a nature walk.

I agree, in the morning when I take a walk, I have my biggest breakthroughs!

Writing down at night everything I need to do tomorrow.

When I wake up I already have a gameplan of what needs to get done

Managing my contractors definitely takes up most of my time. This is split between defining requirements/designs of tasks, general management, and testing things they've delivered.

Processing orders and responding to email. Most days, they each take 30 mins to a hour depending on the number of each that day, but its the bread and butter of my business so is the first thing and last thing I do every day to be sure they are done.
