Can You Recommend a Good Membership Site Service to Host Product?

I'm looking for a Membership Site recommendation to host a tutorial/product. I don't want software or Worpdress plugins at this point, just a 3rd party host who will collect the money, assign passwords, and host the content.

I've researched Wild Apricot, and while I like their features, I'd prefer a site that uses Stripe rather than Paypal. I've read lots of negatives about Paypal holding people's money for months etc.

Any suggestions, experiences (including Wild Apricot)?

Not an answer - just curious - why don't you want to host your own membership site and customize it the way you want it with any payment processor you want?

I'd like to hear about this too. Mostly for nonwordpress sites all I hear about is amember

I don't want to deal with configuring Wordpress + hosting + security + payments (having a unique/static IP address installed at home=upgrading to a new business account + new monthly fees). I'd like to launch this with a 3rd party handling everything above. Simpler for now.

I use amember on a non wordpress site to host my member areas and JVZoo or Clickbank to take care of the recurring fees. Amember can be a bit of a learning curve -so if I were starting over I'd maybe use a plugin for Wordpress. Although with the learning curve comes some robust features.

I would be leery of hosting my membership on another site I didn't own. A lot of work goes into prepping the membership content.

If you don't need an actual area and can deliver content via email you can bypass the whole thing by using a recurring billing process through clickbank that allows people to use their own Paypal if they want and then deliver content through an autoresponder software. That takes out the whole member area.

      Gail,

      Thank you for your insight.

I thought there'd be more options available for 3rd party sites. I want to add the membership site barrier to make it harder to pirate/disseminate on torrent sites. PDFs would be easiest, but they're too easy to distribute (in the wrong hands). I hope I can find a suitable Stripe-friendly host.

      Cheers!

Have you tried Payhip for your downloadables? They use Paypal, but also allow for secure hosting of info products. The item is delivered to your customer on a link that expires after a certain amount of time. This prevents theft by others using the link.
