Hi guys,
My first try at the affiliate market went to the drain due to the niche i picked.
In my second try i want to find a low competition niche.
I am focused at making the right decision this time (those micro niches are very very confusing).
What do you say about the "fatty liver" niche? i can get a good domain that get searched a lot and the competition is low, but i cant seem to find out if there is any money in that niche.
I thought that with all of the experience here someone can tell if this direction is any good.

What would you sell in that niche?

It's my opinion that you're going in the wrong direction - you don't want low competition niches... they are low competition for a reason... not enough customers, not enough product to sell, etc...

What good would it be to be at the top of a search if you get 100 people a month, and have nothing to sell?

Pick one of the big niches, and shoot for low competition *KEYWORDS*. That will get you traffic, there's a ton of possible customers, and plenty of affiliate products to sell.

Of course, this advice is worth exactly what you paid for it...

      Exactly.

This is a HORRIBLE idea. You obviously have no idea what you're doing. No one is saying you can't make money online. They're saying that you shouldn't go after the MMO market. To try to teach others Internet marketing when you have no knowledge or experience is completely out of integrity.

Also, it's a highly competitive niche. You'd be up against people like Jeff Walker, Frank Kern, Mike Filsaime, Andy Jenkins, etc. In your situation, you wouldn't succeed.

Harsh, I know. But that IS the reality.

As NicheMan said, spend some time doing some research. Figure out what niche you'd like to pursue. What do you already know? What are your passions? Your hobbies? Focus on that.

      Hope that helps!

        Hi itzikshviro,

        How you doing?

Well done on not giving up and being another statistic. I remember when I first started out and I found myself overwhlemed however by me asking the right questions and reaching out to the right people I managed to start the ball rolling and it hasn't stopped since. So no matter how hard it gets please stick with it.

Reading through the topic, I found that you had some fantastic advice and If you follow it i'm sure you will do well with that said I would like to see if I can contribute.

Firstly finding the right niche can be a painstaking but a neccessity to start yourself off on the right foot. I agree you don't want to pick a niche that has low competition but then again you don't want to choose a niche where there is high competition because you will be a little fish in a huge ocean. My advice is to pick a keyword thats in the middle, I generally look for competition of between 8000 - 25000 per month(USING GOOGLE ADWORDS)

        * I can go into more detail with finding niches if you want. Just let me know

Once you have chosen your niche you might want to think about about driving traffic and building a list. I'm sure you heard that the money is in the list and that true however it takes time but there are methods that can speed things up. If speed is what your looking for then make a buying clicks a priority. Now buying clicks can be rewarding providing you know where to find quality clicks. To save you time I recommend using Igor Kheifets or Zach Lee both gentlemen provide you with some amazing conversions and at a competitive price. Now with that said its vital to have great products/services to sell to prospects and if you don't then you will be wasting time.

Another way to drive traffic is writing original content relating to your niche. This cant be done either by blogging or article writing. I have expierence in both and my favourite is blogging. Have you ever done that before? The biggest thing is to remain consistent in your approach, give fantastic value because at the end of the day its all about creating a brand based around you.

There are many more great tips I can offer but I didn't want to over load you. Be sure to reach out if you want more free advice. I want to wish you all the best and hopefully we will hear from you again on your success.

        Good Luck

        Owen

I'm going to have to second Ben's advice.

When you're just starting out - you need to pick products that are proven to sell.

This way you know if you can't sell it...it's something you're doing wrong.

I'd go for the highly competitive markets. Then try to find a lower competition niche within one of the markets.

"Maybe I'll take a shot at it" is not a good mental attitude to have, especially if you're talking about MMO ... you've been warned!

I know you all will disagree with me but FOR ME.. after 4 years of learning internet marketing... my biggest success is coming from teaching struggling network marketers how to brand themselves. Then I got hooked up with a network marketing company, worked my ass off until I found some huge business builders.... and now i'm enjoying residual income....

By taking this advice, you are mostly setting yourself up for disaster.

Firstly, MMO is not a niche, but a market. Secondly, why would you promote these products if you can't make money online yourself?

Enter a low competitive niche, which will allow for you to build credibility far easier and actually put the odds in your favour in terms of building a profitable business.

I'm sorry, but that is ludicrous. You clearly have no experience (not claiming that I'm a professional in any way) and you think you can jump straight into teaching others how to make money?

I fail to see logic and reasoning.

If you want to do this right, without bouncing from one thing to the next like most people in your position ...

      1. Sit down in a quiet place with pen and paper.
      2. Write down what you know about or what you'd do even if you didn't get paid for a year (which is more the norm than you think).
      3. Next research that and see if people are paying for any products or services in that subject. If not, choose a second, or third choice ,etc.
      4. Next, follow the advice you're receiving in this thread, the advice that resonates with you the most, according to 2 and 3.

That's the best foundation to start on. It may seem a little slower than the way you want (or need) to go now. But it will keep you moving forward instead of in circles like you're destined to go now.

Hope you can swallow this medicine and not spit it out or ignore it, it's good for you!

You don't have the experience and I'll tell you right now you're wasting your time. Spend a good month or two doing research and figure out a real path to take. Right now you're just closing your eyes and pointing in a direction to walk at this point. You're going to waste your time again... Either spend a few months doing deeper research or find someone who can guide you.

What type of products would be available to promote as an affiliate within this niche? Are you directly competing with at least one other major site? And, if so, could you find a way to promote their products as an affiliate? These are a few things you will want to consider.
