The best way to drive traffic.

Hi Guys

I would just like to pose a question to the board. What in your experience is the best way to drive traffic to your website? Now before you answer that let me just inform that I cannot edit the website that I own, it is hosted by another company, but I need to generate traffic to that site. Any givers?

    Everyones gonna give you a different answer...we all have different opinions on the "best ways" to drive traffic to our sites. Personally I prefer articles, and PPC (I use other methods as well though). Plenty of other people will think differetly though.

      PPC if you have money to spend and search engine traffic if you don't. Articles, forums, directories, blog comments and links from other related sites will help with search engine rankings.

        If you are unable to edit the website, you should make a sales page that you can edit. Drive traffic to the sales page, ideally with a signup form for an autoresponder. Just driving traffic to a website does not automatically convert to sales.

          I have changed my mind recently thorugh my own experience. I used to think building qiality links is the best way to drive traffic to your website. But with my own experinece in the last monthor two I think writing quality new content on yoru website has the best effect. I am sure many may disagree but no one can discount the importance of writing new content on w ebsie and its impact on ranking on Google and other search engines. The content should be rich in the desired keywords of course. There is no point in wasting time in writing unrelated content. Having ablog on the website especially wordpress helps and the two can be combined together,

          Or, if your uneditable sales page is converting well, place a Capture Page in front of it to capture email details, thus allowing you to promote any product to them time and time again.

          This also allows you to control two very important assets:

          1) Your List

          2) Your conversion rate.

          From your responder, after they confirm, they are directed automatically to your
          sales page.

        My personal favourite is viral traffic.

        I never release a product or service that doesn't have a viral element to it.

        In other words, the product or service drives people to my site on its own while it's being used.

    If you have a budget and can spend some $$ I would suggest PPC but that is assuming that you know how to work a campaign correctly because with PPC you can lose alot of money if you don't do it correctly...

    If you don't have a budget and you are interested in driving traffic think about Bum Marketing Efforts - although its alot of hard work it may help to drive organic traffic to your site...

    Some of the methods that you can use are Article Marketing & Forum Marketing but keep in mind that your goal is not to spam these mediums.....do not over do it!!! add value to those forums and traffic will go where you direct it....
