Stolen content. What now?

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody has run into this type of case?

In a nutshell, I've reached out to an established website, provided a guest post with a backlink. They took my material, reworded it and kept the credit for themselves without any link backs or mention of the original author.

Article was written from scratch and not published anywhere else. I worked hard on the idea, information and writing of that stuff. All they did is reworded certain parts so that it wouldn't look completely scrapped.

No response to my emails so far.

Is there anything I can do about it, or should I just move on? Kind of hurts though.

Never had that exact situation happen to me, but I've certainly had a fair bit of content stolen. If all they did was reword a few parts, they're still violating your copyright, so you could try to get their content pulled with a DMCA takedown notice (assuming their web host is located in the US). Even if you've never posted that content online, it's still your work, so you still own it -- that said, you may have a harder time proving to the web host that you own that work since you can't point to an online location where your article already lives.

There are tons of resources on how to send a DMCA takedown notice. Here's one that seems decent:
Sample DMCA Take Down Letter - IPWatchdog.com | Patents & Patent Law

It's really easy, just make sure that (1) you really own the content you claim to own (or you could be sued) and (2) you visit the web host's website to find out how they prefer to receive these (if you're not sure who the web host is you can use a tool like Web Hosting Search Tool, Reviews & More at WhoIsHostingThis.com). Some hosts prefer email, some fax, some have web forms.

    Good luck!

Welcome to the Internet Buddy! Well that's a violation of the DMCA, I assumed you already sent them an email and I won't repeat what kilgore has mentioned above.

Just follow those steps and let's hope everythings goes well because personally I don't bother these things because doing this will spend more time than creating a new content. IMO Not just worth it and it happens a lot especially from big marketers. If your content /product is good it wll happen...

my $17 and $34 paid products has been posted for free on a blackhat forum and It's' almost impossible to put down everything. I tried but it keeps on popping out.

If you want to make money you got to spend your time wisely.

Go to that site and plug in the domain of the offending site. It should pull up hosting information related to that account. Find the contact info for the Abuse Department and then give them a call. Most hosts located in first-world countries are fast to remove offending content if you stay on them.
