New guy. Looking to get started.

Hey, I'm new to all this, forum and blogging. I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I had to retire earlier this year cause of medical issues. I recently started looking into blogging, affiliate marketing, and other things. I think I'm going to give it a shot, but still have to do more research on it all.

I see lots of people pushing their own products/programs around the net, but I'm always weary of investing in them. I have lots of time to research and look into things. I know I won't find all the answers and will screw up a long the way as I learn. I haven't ruled out investing in a program, but would like to do things on my own if I can.

I was wondering what people think is the best for hosting? I see lots about Host Gator and I have come across theblogpress. Any opinions on those places or other good options I should look into? Also, is it best to setup an llc to do all this through? Any other tips for someone looking to start off on this path?

Have to run, will check back and read up more on the forum later, lots of information to go through here.

Thanks,
Gary

I would advice you that you invest in a mentor right away if you are serious about this. I didn't do that when i first started out and that is something I regret, i spent alot of money on different products but didn't really get anywhere, until i invested in a mentor. So that is something I recommend that you do if you want to skip most of the trial and error and achieve success a lot quicker.

And about hosting, I myself have only used Hostgator and it has worked perfectly for me all the time so i would recommend them. They have perfect support according to me also. Everytime i have had a problem i have contacted their 24/7 online support and they have solved the problems i have had right away almost every time.

    Gary,

Welcome to the forum, it's good to have you with us. Simply by asking, you will have many folks offer to help via advice, selling you products, and sharing their own "newbie" stories.

I would suggest you begin by frequenting the forum, observing what's going on here, asking questions, and as time goes on, developing a startup plan. There's not a reason to be in a rush; however, success only comes by smart focused action.

When you decide you want to "set up shop" I would suggest you focus on learning and doing one thing (one way to make money) and get really good at it. There's a tendency for folks to think that putting lots of various irons in the fire is the way to approach online business. Don't do that. There will be time to branch out and diversify later.

May I suggest two things to think about as you begin this journey:

First, it all starts with demand. To make money you've got to sell something, period. So as you begin, do some research online to find where that demand is. Too many newbies arbitrarily pick a product or a market to sell without validating that there is buyer demand. Remember this: always sell into demand. You're not going to create demand for your product. If there's demand, it's already in the marketplace. Go find it!

Second, go the extra mile. So many people in this industry (online business) aren't willing to do that. Whatever type of business you decide to establish, always make it better than your direct competitors. Create products of the highest quality. Give the very best customer service that you can. Treat your customers and prospects better than anyone else. Online business has been discovered and the competition in every market is immense. To be successful, you need to stand above the crowd. Do things a little better than everyone else and customers will notice.

Again, I wish you the very best in your online journey.

      Welcome, Gary.

You will always get mixed reviews when people give opinions on hosting. Saying that, you're taking the right approach.

My hosting companies of choice are my own hosting company (not plugging it; it's private, used for me and employees), Host Gator, and Domain.

When it comes to spending money, you also have the right idea. It takes a little while before you're able to spot good programs. They do exist, plenty of them, but best not rush in. WF is a wonderful font of knowledge for a newcomer (for anyone). So you came to the right place.

      If you'd like my suggestion . . .

I would choose what you consider to be a good hosting company. Decide on a niche you're comfortable writing in. Read some resources on keyword research and domain choice (so you can get a domain name that stands a chance of ranking). Install a Wordpress blog. Don't worry about monetization (adding affiliate offers) just yet. Begin adding content. Learn about content marketing, which will greatly help you begin receiving traffic. And then begin monetizing with offers that your readers will find useful.

I hope some of that helps.

In my opinion it is worth mastering CPA/CPL.Then think of a good traffic source to use. I would suggest you to start with PPC, as it brings the highest quality traffic and you will be able to see positive ROI faster. There are of course other great traffic sources such as Email Marketing, PPV etc. I would be happy to help you have a headstar if you have any questions.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the advice.

I agree about not being in a rush. I think I have started to pick up the basics in a short time of research, but know there is a lot more to learn and do. I'm trying to figure out my plan, before I just jump into it blind.

I've been trying to narrow what I'd like to do down. I think it's coming down to cigars, craft beer, or maybe a combo of cigars and alcohol. Not sure if the combo would be too much to start off with or not. Other options I thought of were watches and sneakers. I used to sell lots of sneakers online when I was younger. Still do a little from time to time, but not like I used to.

Right now my plan is to figure out what I want to pick, get my host, write some stuff that I can have ready to post when I get going. Get social media, Facebook, Twitter up and ready. A mailing list that I can have people sign up to be notified of new postings and send an offer or two out. I could probably do drawings for things to give away with the mailing list from time to time.

Still in the early stages of it all and don't want to put out garbage. When I make a commitment to doing something, I always want to be the best, or among the best. I think I'm pretty realistic about it. I know it's a lot of work up front and don't expect big results from the start.

Busy day today. Getting things ready for my grandmother's 83rd birthday. I'll check in later on. Thanks again.

You need to move carefully. It's better to go with a honest mentor who can help you understanding and working things correctly.
Also, be sure NOT to lose money. There are millions of scammer all over the net.

Hi Gary, welcome to the Warrior Forum! You can't really go wrong here. And for those people on here to both sell WSO's successfully - and give awesome advice all around the forum... yall can't go wrong here either lol. I advise that you use the search function. It will contain more than enough answers and solutions to the questions and problem(s) that you have. Oh, and each web host has their pros and cons. My favorite ones are Yahoo Webhosting, and Hostgator. All in all... good luck man!

on my opinion email marketing is the by far the best and easiest way to get money fast. Its actually a short cut to success. Find some good PLR in your niche , go for good solo ad provider , once u reach 1000 subscribers then start ad swaps . make your list huge meanwhile make money with it with affiliate products , selling solos etc.

    Hope that helps

There are simply so many faucets to the IM world. So it's even difficult to know what initial direction to take. I spent a fortune on 'shiny objects' (aka WSOs) and was certainly a part of the 95% who did nothing with it. I happened to stumble across a coach my 2nd month pursuing IM. As Frost stated so eloquently "that has made all the difference". Let me know if I can assist in anyway, feel free to PM etc.

If you're new, choose something that's going to make you money quickly.

Ignore people who tell you that Internet Marketing is about creating a stable business. It's about making money and lot's of it.

    Stay away from niche sites, SEO, and article marketing;
gravitate towards list building, CPA, and creating products.

Once you've made some quick cash, the rest of the more passive stuff comes easier.

Clarity is a HUGE part of IM success. I hope this post brings some clarity. It's so simple when you know it -- and darn difficult when you don't! I owe my mentors a world of thanks for bringing this clarity.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

    1. Products
    2. Services

    That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

    Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

    1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

    2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

Affiliate marketing falls under both models. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.

    3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

    Pick just ONE!

    1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

    2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

    3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS! (And stop buying any info not related to your niche and target market, period!)

    F -- Follow
    O -- One
    C -- Course
    U -- Until
    S -- Successful

And remember: build a list, Build a List, BUILD A LIST!

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

If you DON'T have a solid plan or system, THAT'S when it's hard. A good system will shave YEARS (and save you big $$$) off of your learning curve

That's why I recommend investing in at least one good, comprehensive IM course (or mentor who will give you such a system) instead of jumping from one $37 e-book to the next. A lot of people here complain about not being able to make any money. But neither are they willing to invest in their business. (Buying a random bunch of $37 e-books doesn't count.)

The best thing I ever did was invest in a comprehensive IM course aimed at REAL business owners, not just other IM wannabes. Yes it was $1500. (It's no longer available.) But it was truly some of the best A-Z IM info I ever bought. Everything else I've learned (from the $37 e-books) since has simply been plugged into this system.

My two best recommendations for phenomenal IM training programs are Ali Brown's Elevate program (ElevateBizTraining.com) and Jeff Walker's Product Launch Formula (ProductLaunchFormula.com)

Get a solid plan or system and then work the plan!

    Hope this helps!

Depending on what you do to make a start I would have a real good think about the areas you wish to work in as far as 'Niches' go - niche based marketing is definitely wise, for both affiliate marketing and blogging. Affilorama run a free course that is 100% kosher and has helped thousands just google 'Affilorama' (no links or pay backs here) Anyway I'm sure you will come to your own conclusions and regret it to begin with, most people do...but you can always count on an opinion in this forum
