I Didn't Know Porn Is STILL A HOT MARKET...Even Today...

Hi Warriors!

The year: 2009.

I guess porn is still a hot market...even today...

Here's why...

I've been doing affiliate marketing, selling ebooks, etc. for the past 2 years.

I've made some money here and there...go figure...

I create a porn incentive site...it's been in existence for a month and a half...

I already have a check coming in for $1250 on July 15th from the various porn companies I use as an affiliate (lol...since I have no content whatsoever...)

I thought "porn" was liberated years ago...that people would not pay for porn now since they can download it for free...

But I guess I was wrong...

Am I happy...yes...

Porn is so taboo because many people criticize it and talk it down...

But I guess when you are alone and it's just you, your computer, and a closed door...

Well, you know the rest...

Have a good day everyone...and a productive week...

Still thriving as hard as ever. No pun intended. It's a universal constant.

It's probably a lot harder than it used to be though, especially for new people to get into.

Nice idea on the incent site twist.

I agree. Porn is definitely one of the most lucrative industries online. Plus, that is the only niche i know of where competitors actually help each other by sharing their traffic! (Pls don't ask me how i knew that! :p)

Funny post not good to be sipping tea when you read it >>has to go and clean keyboard as tea went everywhere.......

Still a good niche to make some dollars though have made a few hundred myself and it off a friends site as an affiliate! they say the Internet was made for two reasons, EMAIL &PORN!! I have all ways thought that it was a choice if you want to look at something like an adult site, not like you do not know what is on the web page and you have the choice to leave.

A lot of people choose to go in too films because of the thrill and the Money, I have spoken to a few people in Vegas who were in the Industry we met at a (Poker comp) and they say there are a lot of company's now targeting women so I guess there is a niche there.

As I said it comes down to choice.

        Hi pavon,

Gosh, thanks for the thumbs up mate! I'm glad that our WSO was of great use to you.

As for you guys... sex will ALWAYS sell.

I'm not saying this because I'm selling an adult WSO. I'm saying this because it's the truth. One could easily make some serious bucks if he does it right.

Porn has been a hot market since shortly after man started walking around on two legs and using shells or beads to barter. Did you think that sex drive would suddenly go down in the new millenium? It will always be a hot market.

Porn, dating , relationships are some of the evergreen niches and they will continue to be popular. No doubts we writers get most of the orders in these niches. But it's fun nonetheless!

I'm probably going to ruin my good girl reputation on this one but...

I've watched a lot of porn. It's what my friends and I used to do when we were not sober. Not watch it for sexy purposes, but watch it to make fun of and/or critique. I've seen straight porn, gay porn, lesbian porn for lesbians and lesbian porn for straight men (really, it's different), 2nd person porn (shot to appear as though the viewer is the recipient of the action. very cool.), kinky porn, porn that you wouldn't really think is porn (e.g. S&M or other fetish porn that doesn't actually involve sex), and so on.

Now, I'm no expert, but I have talked to a lot of women, either as friends, or through forums, about porn. And this is what I think...

(Follow discusses porn in detail and may not be for everyone)

A lot of mainstream porn goes something like this - Girl is just sitting there. Boy comes along and shows his hard penis. Girl thinks "A penis! Wow! I sure want to suck that!" 15 minutes of BJ, they immediately go to sex, with closeups of genitals, then the guy cums on her face. And boy does she just love that...

Well, that's not very realistic. And to most women, it's not very sexy. Seeing a penis doesn't make most women feel horny. And few women love to have cum on their face. And giving BJs doesn't turn a lot of women on that much, so watching someone else do it isn't all that hot.

Porn that caters to women tends to be more "erotic" rather than hardcore. It focuses more on foreplay than the actual in-and-out of sex. The camera angle is more pulled back, so that you can see all of what's happening. The women in it are more "real" looking -- not overly made up with breast implants.

          And so on.

Of course, that's just what a lot of women I've talked to say. There are always exceptions to the rule.

"Romance products" are a good tie in if you're trying to cater to women.

Also, I know a lot of women that think that gay male porn is pretty hot. I guess it just seems more plausible that a hot gay pizza guy shows up and the other hot gay guy wants to do it with him, ya know?

          Love,
          Shannon

Have to agree with you Shannon.

Around 30 percent of adult mass-market paperback sales are romances, and Harlequin is the dominant publisher of hot-body stories worldwide. According to Harlequin in 2008, it sold more than 130 million books; since its inception sixty years ago, Harlequin has shipped more than 5.7 billion books.

That's a lot of "romance products."

It would almost seem that women would rather HEAR about hot, sexy, action rather than seeing it.

Yes this is very true, I own a porn site or two and as with any business you must dedicate time to making it a success (which is somthing I am just getting back to) POrn for women is an underserved niche as there are various of others. For men who are not secure of their sexuality it is hard to do but if you can then ther is money to be made BUT those sites can not be the same as they are when targeting men because women view sex in a different way then men.

I read somewhere on the net that that for one mainline website that exists, there are about 10 porn sites. If this statistic holds true, then there are many porn sites on the net and there are also many consumers of their product. Otherwise, there would not be many sites promoting porn.

With many producers and consumers, making money with porn will be around for a long time to come.

Yes, I think the "adult" industry is stil booming .

Lately, I was socialbookmarking a new page on my site at stumbleupon. I clicked on the adult content button because my site is a health site and mentions various natural and pharmaceutical medications and thought the umbrella of adult included stuff like that.

Anyway once the bookmark was finished I noticed it had in small letters the word porn beside my bookmark. I tried to change it but couldnt find where to do it, so left it until the next day.

When I checked into my google analytics the next day there was over a hundred visitors to my site from stumble upon ha ha.

I did however, grudgingly manage to change the adult to non adult .

  • I wrote an article on EZA a few years back titled something like "Britney Spears Nude?" Anyway, the article wasnt about her being nude. It was actually about the need for her to stop trying to be like the other bad girls of the day: Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and those girls.

To date it has over 19,000 views!!! Get this. Since it is ANTI Britney nude, I have only had 233 clicks.

I still dont know where the traffic is coming from.

Just be careful. You need to find out about the rules for what content you can use on your site. The specific rule is USC 18 Section 2257.

    Wait, what? Are you insane?

Replace 'porn' with 'internet marketing' or 'weight loss' or 'whatever it is you're promoting'.

All marketing preys on the weakness of humans, or it wouldn't be marketing.

Give me a break. Your morals aren't my morals. All I can say is that it is a pity that being self righteous is not a punishable offense.

PS. It's a lot tougher to promote porn on the internet then most people believe particularly because of all of the free stuff that is out there. It's actually one market that will teach you how to approach niches correctly, or fail completely.

I am pretty convinced that if you can successfully market niche porn on the internet then you can market anything.

    "absurd ease"?

I don't sell or monetize porn myself, but I see no reason why others shouldn't.

Me? I'm planning a dinner party for this weekend and I just ordered a case of champagne, a case of red Sancerre and a case of white Sancerre. I'm serving mostly shellfish so hence the Sancerre bias. Alcohol destroys the lives of those who allow it to so, of course, as can many other readily-available commodities. Does that mean I should not pour wine for my guests? Does that mean that the merchant who sold me those cases and delivered them should be ashamed to vend his product?

Look, if a man's life appears to be destroyed "with absurd ease" by the very existence and availability of pornographic media, I'm willing to bet he was looking to be destroyed by any means available.

Don't blame the messenger, and don't fight or ignore human nature.

A monster is a creature that preys on the weakness's of humans. If you promote porn, then you are a monster. It's a heartless truth, deal with it. If you're ready to throw your morals and the lives of many out the window, then be prepared to answer for it.

All I can say is that it is a pity that promoting porn is not a punishable offense.

This is a very touchy subject (no pun intended). I saw this thread yesterday and waited to see what would unfold. It is nice to see that civility maintained the upper hand. That being said...

Looking back over history, if you search the internet and look at some of the most viewed artwork of all time, you will find nudity. And, to emphasize the desire of the masses (ie: the Roman Catholic Church), you will find some of the most valuable and widely viewed nude artwork inside houses of religious worship. One could argue that the churches were responsible for promoting pornography centuries ago before postcards, before magazines, before cable television, before the internet.

Eight years ago I was commissioned to do a six month study of the effects of pornography on the internet from every aspect I could think of. The results were both interesting and impressive from purely a business perspective. I can state without hesitation that it is here to stay. It would be nothing short of impossible to shut down the adult industry on the internet, without crippling a multitude of businesses and forcing countless people to file for unemployment.

It is far-reaching to say the least. You have to consider it is more than just a site you are talking about. A simple adult site is made up of an ISP, a Host, the site owner, site designer, content provider (ie: photographer, videographer, etc.), legal representation, and the list goes on and on. Now, when you commercialize it, the complexity grows proportionally.

Adult-based sites/companies employ some of the most highly qualified and incredibly skilled web designers, photographers, artists, and videographers available. Adult-based sites actually helped lay the groundwork for that which you see every day on the internet. They helped pave the way for high quality graphics which load quickly because of graphic compression software. They helped develop video and audio compression to make streaming audio and video more effective. I could go on, but you get the picture.

Adult-based sites are not for everyone and they are not going to magically disappear. They might not be morally correct for some, but neither are alcohol or drugs. It is an individual decision whether or not to view adult-based sites.

One thing is for certain... it is big business, it is here to stay (as it has been for centuries), and people will still be debating the issue no matter the quantity of facts and figures for or against.

        Hey Roger --

        Without a doubt.

Sex is one of the few primal instincts that go back thousands of years. Of course there are many exceptions, but men get turned on with their eyes and women with their ears i.e. hearing and thinking about it.

I've heard about the 'porn for women' niche a long time ago, back when I was sneaking on Cinimax and HBO to watch stuff I wasn't supposed to. There was a special on women who where once actresses and now own their own studios. A few of those women produce movies targeted toward other women exclusively. It was very interesting and as a young and impressionable teen, I wanted to produce (not star in!) my own flicks. But that urge died down really quick; mainly because I was also a lazy teen.

Anyway, I'm surprised more marketers haven't jumped on this years ago. I was thinking that when I first joined the forum, but I figured that discussion on that niche would be left for an adult board.

I didn't post in this thread to make an argument; I know you porn promoters are quite apt at making up pathetic excuses to defend the damage you do in the name of profits. The Tobacco industry has been doing it for years.

I just wanted to make it quite clear on where I stand on this matter.

If you could promote the most destructive thing on the internet, porn would be it. I don't care how much money you make, it simply isn't worth the toll it takes on its viewers.

I'm sure all you porn promoters will disagree; after all, it's easy to gloss over the negative aspects of porn when there's a fat paycheck in it for you. It's called corruption.
wow! but it's ok to mislead someone into believing they can make x amount of dollars in a week? Porn isn't for me either, don't get me wrong. But to be going around pontificating as you have...you really are too much!
If you dislike porn so much why even participate in this discussion? Why not just avoid it, if it is so distasteful to you?

        Hi Razer Rage,
There are many bad things about the Internet. One of them is that it gives stupid people a voice.
Loving the new sig file. So true. And fitting. But if your glass was half full, you would see that the same 'bad thing' also helps many stupid people to listen to their voice in a different way, receive valuable feedback, and then adjust it so that it doesn't sound so stupid anymore.

It helps though, if you're not ranting so loudly yourself while looking for disagreement purely in order to try and belittle it, that you can't hear the feedback. But even if you can hear it, that doesn't matter if you have not yet learnt to listen.

          Hi Razer Rage,

Ex...there's a thing called Private Messaging. Use that.
          Why?

I think there are some great lessons here and see no reason to PM you. As it happens, there is always at least one person with the exact same argument as you in a thread like this. It has happened here many times. Those type of repetitive issues are the best possible threads for everyone to read, so that hopefully there are less of them to read in future.

And as I said in the other thread - the most common type of sloppy thinking here revolves around people throwing their opinion around as absolute fact, and then getting emotional if anyone else disagrees and identifies their error clearly.

Those type of conversations waste pixels and therefore need to be highlighted at times, so that people understand what clear, logical, rational thinking and reasoning looks like which will lead to more light bulbs going off, more money being made and less pixels being wasted in the long run.

Can you pls enlighten me? Because I really do NOT see how porn can ruin a person's life.

Are you talking about the actors? or the viewers?

Either way, both of them have a choice to watch/take part in it, or stay away for it.

So, if someone really thinks that porn can ruin his/her life... he/she should stay away from porn don't you think?

      That pretty much solves everything.

        Hi Josh,

don't compare porn to an automobile
You don't give a reason to back up your assertion. But with respect, tell that to someone who's child has been taken by a drunk driver.

I'm not judging anyone, or saying what is right or wrong
So what are you doing then?

I see nothing wrong with the analogy, if you look at it in the context it was used - IE - in direct response to -

I find it deeply disturbing on how casually you all talk about something that is known to destroy a person's life with absurd ease
'The' cat was simply demonstrating that porn is not the only thing that can -

destroy a person's life with absurd ease
But obviously, this does not then mean that anything that can, is therefore something that has no positive uses and not enough of them to justify it's existence.

I am not sure how adult entertainment ruins viewers lives. Like ANYTHING if it is used or abused then it can be a problem. If a man stops being intimate with his wife because he is always watching porn and their relationship crumbles - then that is a problem with HIM not porn.

No one would argue that Broccolli is good for you but if you gorge yourself with pounds and pounds of it in one sitting - you will get sick. You can actually die from drinking too much water. Oh my god, lets BAN WATER.

If you are morally opposed to pornography - then that is up to you and I applaud your high morals. I am not opposed to it though and find it very frustrating that people are so voracious in their displeasure of things that do not affect them.

Humans have an aptitude for finding a multitude of self destructive behaviors. We drink ourselves to death, we smoke ourselves to death, we work ourselves to death, we exercise ourselves to death, we eat ourselves to death.

I guess it is possible we can "porn" ourselves to death as well - maybe extreme dehydration?

Regardless though - porn is one of a million things that can be abused by humans. it is certainly not alone in that regard.

Definitely still money in porn but most of the people in the field will tell you it certainly isn't as lucrative as it once was. There are also a lot of headaches when you deal with porn. The talent is annoying, people judge you and their are a lot of legal issues. Adult dating sites offer some sweet affiliate prices still though!

Again this is the second time I have said this but if you have any questions about the porn industry and/or adult affiliate marketing - PM Brad Gosse - a warrior member, there is a GOOD reason he has been invited to party at the Playboy Mansion 3x.

Well I've never heard the family of anyone come out and call for a ban on porn. What does 'what we've heard' have to do with it?

The automobile isn't the problem, it's the person who was under the influence of an addictive substance. That substance could be drugs, alcohol, etc...
Just as porn isn't the problem, it's the person who commits crimes and has also viewed or used porn, and the two things are mistakenly tied together so that a scapegoat can be found.

You seem to have ignored the conclusion of my last post, and the question which was 'why shouldn't porn and automobiles be compared, in the context that they were?' It's a perfect and useful analogy, which your post has unintentionally proven.

              Hi TeddyP,
              maybe extreme dehydration
Lol. Apparently 'over-use' does sap the body of vital nutrients. There was a warrior here not so long back that appeared to have studied this in depth, and was trying to sell an ebook on it.

I like to test things, so I've been continually trying to dis-prove his theory ;-)

  • So what you are saying is that there is still an interest in adult consensual activity? And there always will be. And there will always be a market for Alcohol and other "Adult" oriented business. People are willing to pay for "Value" in any niche. Apparently you are onto a way of profiting from your "Discovery". So keep at it. And don't be quick to judge the morality of what people think. Your morality is different from others. Just make sure what you do is legal and get to work.
