Please constructively criticise my affiliate site...

My site Weight Loss Tips | Unbiased Weight Loss Guide Reviews has about 94 uniques a day, but the bounce rate is 90% or more, what can I do to make the visitors stay longer and at least click on my links.

I believe the traffic I am getting is targeted, so what could be the problem?

I need to lower the bounce rate substantially...

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

The way you've designed it looks like one big ad. It doesn't look like you believe in the product, it looks like you are 'trying' to sell something to someone. It doesn't look like you are being honest. Plus, 94 visitors is by no means a 'huge' sum of visitors to really make any decisions on. You need a bit more than that.

I think Johnathan has got it in one!

You are not trying to engage your visitors in any sort of conversation.

You also are making a basic mistake. Not everybody looking to lose weight accepts that they have to lose fat. Not everybody who needs to lose fat also needs to lose weight.

Decide who your market is and then make your site appeal to them.

p.s. Ever heard of 'before and after'? It might be old fashioned but it still works as an eye catcher.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

As Johnathan noted, it doesn't look like a review site. Take the sidebar off, and it could be a display ad in a magazine.

Your site title is 'Weight Loss Tips', yet there isn't a tip to be found. Nor is there a prominent link to a tip. Just that huge ad, I mean header, a little weak copy and more ads. The opt-in popup isn't real exciting, either.

If I clicked through to your site as it is, my first though would be 'bait and switch' and I'd hit the back button. From your stats, 90%+ of your visitors agree.

Art gave you some great advice. Terms such as 'weight loss' or 'fat loss' are way to general to attract "targeted" traffic.

You could be attracting everyone from chubby teenagers who want to be asked to the prom to middle-aged divorced men who want to lose the gut so they can start dating again to senior citizens trying to avoid (or recover from) a stroke or heart attack. 'Fat loss' could be anything from 'my pants are getting tight' to morbidly obese 'lose the fat or you will die.' By creating your site the way you did, you don't appeal to any of those groups directly.

Pick a slice of this niche and offer them a taste of something that speaks directly to them, enticing them deeper into the site.

Thanks man...this isn't my thread but you taught me alot! I never thought about it that way. I made the same misttake and use weight loss and fat loss without appealing to a group that is looking for a specific goal ie; fitting into their pants again,,,

    Hi

The content in your website is good, I believe that its the over advertizing (as John said, it seems like 'bait and switch') and you are 'selling' to the customer. Make it as if you are helping them, and they will naturally click on the product review page if they want to. Also, you might want to make your opt inbox a little more prominent, like put it in a box or something so that they may opt in and it should increase conversions.

You could certainly improve the text and cut down on the sales-ease. Leave that to the product pages to do.

There seems to be too many distractions on your website.

If the main purpose of the website is to build your own list of subscribers, you might want to have only one focus on the website.

You can check out Ewen Chia's blog as he has analyzise his own high converting opt in page.
