Can Anyone Help Me Find Directories For Website Submission Help Pls !

Hi,
I really want to earn some extra cash and want to offer website owners a web-submission service but apart from Vilesilencer/seo-friendly-list which has 289 directories listed i`m not sure where to find the other directories needed to be competitive.

I see most folks who do web site submission offer their services to around 400 directories so i`d like to do the same, So can anybody help me find the other 130 directories i need ??

Pls help..Jim

I have a monthly subscription to Directory Maximizer which I was referred to through WF. It works good and I get 100 directories for about $10 a month. Seems to be ok so far.

    You guys still do submissions?

Popular opinion is that directories are getting less and less value. Also would you like your link to appear after 3-4 months (or even more)? Do people still visit directories?

With the advent of social media, ppc and related link building tactics, i think you should put this directory submission thing in back burner...

Directories links may not add as much link value as you can get from other valuable sources, but they are helpful when done correctly. It is important to include your keywords in your anchor text because this is the one thing that will still be registered and provide you the most value from your submission and then use your primary keywords

I didn't think anyone did submissions anymore. Once you build a sitemap it goes to Google and Yahoo and that is pretty much the only search engines used today. I'm not wasting my time or money submitting to a directory. So that's my two cents.

You sort of touch on two points here:
      1. True, nobody submits to search engines, because they find you, and submitting does not speed this process in most cases.
      2. Submitting to directories - this is still very popular, and you can get ranked in a couple of months through submission to link directories alone. I can show evidence of this if you like.

Just getting your site indexed will likely result in little or no traffic. Link building strategies, such as submitting your site to directories, will ultimately result in your site ranking better in the search engines, which is where the bulk of your organic traffic will come from.

I only submit your site to the "big guys" that get all of the traffic... Google, Yahoo, MSN (now Bing), and Ask... I don't waste my time/money on those other oddball search engines. I normally get traffic from other SE's from articles that I blast to articles directories.

        Bing - http://www.bing.com/docs/submit.aspx
        Google - http://www.google.com/addurl/
        Yahoo - http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/au/free/request
Ask (Submit your sitemap to ask by replacing "theURLofYourSitemapHere" with YOUR sitemape URL):
        Code:
        http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A//www.theURLofYourSitemapHere.xml

What is great about link directories is you can target at least 2-3 different phrases with the anchor text you use in submission, and increase your ranking for multiple phrases.

You really don't need to submit to these, because they will find and spider you, and typically they spider BECAUSE they found a link to you, NOT because you submitted to them.

    My 2 cents

Directory submission is reasonably useful; it's another tool, like article submission, social bookmarking, 3 way link building and the rest.

There's some value in manual submission to directories, especially niche directories that have good traffic - I've found that submitting to selected directories, upto a couple of hundred does help.

Beyond that, the utility does taper off.

You need a mix of link building strategies. Relying on just one is idiocy.
