Copying Amazon Reviews ?

Hi,

When creating a review site for an Amazon product,
is it OK to quote from some of the customer reviews that are on the Amazon main website ?
Or would that get me into problems with their TOS ?

    If you ask two different lawyers this question, you'll get two different answers (and indeed there are places online where lawyers discuss it, too).

    I'm no lawyer but my perspective is that - apart from my own reviews - I don't own the copyright of reviews published on Amazon sales pages and (whatever Amazon's terms of service say regarding the licensing of such text to associates) I don't want them on my websites. I'd happily link to them, if I wanted to (but in fact I don't even do that).

    I believe the Amazon Associates terms say you can't use any of the customer provided reviews (in part or in whole) UNLESS you pull them from the API.

      What I do is put something along the lines of:

      John Smith was "delighted" by the quality of the product. He gave it 5 stars if you want to read more about his experience click here.

      there is no need to copy the review comments.

      I believe this is the case as well.

      If I want to use the reviews from Amazon in my article I write something along these lines..most users were impressed with product xxxx for instance Jed from Texas found it really easy to assemble you can read his full review....Here [link to review]

    You might read over the Amazon reviews to find out what others really think of the product you are reviewing on your own site. And, you might even take inspiration from those reviews. But, I would never copy/paste those reviews onto my own site. Amazon might have some legal issues with that.

    Copyrights are not yours for sure. But as long as you are promoting the product, there is little chance of someone coming after you.

      Very bad advice. Amazon ToS specifically say you cannot use reviews from their sites unless you pull them from the API.

      You may not get sued but you could lose your Amazon account.

      This is completely wrong, and extremely dangerous advice that can cost people their Amazon accounts if they take any notice of you.

    I sometimes use reviews of customers, however I also have a lot of added valuable information on the product i am reviewing and have never had a problem. Had my account for almost 3 years now
