Making a few bucks from scratch

10 replies
Hello there. Im new at this Internet Marketing type of work, not completely new beacuse I've been reading a lot of posts here and in other websites. I would love if some can give some advise to make a few dollars from scratch, scince im not from USA or Europe, and i just cant invest money on a domain, softwares, etc, because convertibility here in my country makes very expensive (Argentina). I love to write, english and spanish, but I dont know where can I get paid to do it, tried Elance, but seems no one hires. Im not asking to earn $1000 per month or per day, but just a small payment to get satarted in this. Thanks. Greetings..

    I recommend you give away some free writing services in return for some testimonials..

    After you have gain some credibility that's when you start selling your service on fiverr, elance, iwriter, warriors for hire etc...

    The problem with starting out is no matter how skilful you are, no one will trust you if you don't have any testimonials or credibility.

    If you love to write, then type up a report with a free copy of LibreOffice and export it as a PDF file. Get a cover image free from MyEcoverMaker.com and offer it free for email addresses, or even sell it for a low price to start making contacts.

      Try the shotgun method and sign up to a few different sites until you get a few bites for your services. Prepare some of your already completed work in a pdf so you can show prospective clients the kind of quality you can offer. And as someone said above, you could offer to do 1 or 2 articles in return for a testimonial. ODesk and Freelancer.com are two more sites you could join.

      You could also start a free blog to showcase some of your work and when you have some more money, register your own .com domain and transfer everything there.

    Make a blog on a free blog platform and write blog post there. The blog can be on anything that you lik. Why you will do it? Well. You will be able to show people this blog as your portfolio. Without portfolio you are really loosing potential clients.

    Hope this help

    You appear to be a clever person and you write very well. This is great, because it means . . .

    There are dozens of methods available to you.

    Here's one . . .

    Go to Fiverr. Investigate the writing gigs. Note down about a dozen that you can do yourself and then figure out how you can offer more or do them better. Spend an afternoon then reading and taking note of relevant Fiverr tips, available on boards like this one and many others. When ready, create a dozen gigs. Then head over to Facebook and create a fan page for your new business, one where you update people on your 12 gigs. You then need traffic. Read up on how to get this (it gets written about a lot), put your FB page in your forum signatures, and look for forum threads where people are asking for writers. Finally, approach webmasters. Offer them a sample of your writing and ask if they would please consider you in the future.

    The beauty of this model is this:

    1. It's 100% free;
    2. Writing is always in demand;
    3. It's proactive
    4. It has long-term potential.

    Regarding point 4: the key is to build up a collection of regular clients. Clients who hire you on a week-to-week basis.

    Best of luck!

    Have you tried oDesk.Com and Freelancer.Com among other freelancing sites aside from eLance? You can bid on projects in those sites for Spanish content writing, English to Spanish translation, homebased Spanish phone agent jobs, Spanish voice-over work, etc.

    If you love to write, then you love to read too. I suggest to start offering your writing services, writing is a service that will always be needed by businesses, webmasters, etc.

    Start by offering your services on forum such as this one, digitalpoint, namepros, all active webmaster and internet marketing forums.

    Once you have some income and loyal customers, get a domain. hosting and develop a website. You will learn also a lot about different topics since you will need to read a lot to write for your customers.

    This is an idea that I read recently..

    1. Write 10 - 15 articles covering different niches.
    2. Create an account with Ezinearticles.com and upload all these articles. This will serve as your samples.
    3. Start contact website owners (seo agencies, site flippers, niche sites etc) soliciting for writing jobs, pointing them to your EZA profile pages when they ask for your writing samples.

    Doing it this way, its possible that you will be able to charge more than what you can get at freelance jobs sites.
