Yeah welcome to the world of advertising and marketing - you can be sure that an "unlimited*" offer is not an unlimited offer, $100* comissions are not $100 and there is a thing called the "small print" which you have to really check out before taking any offer for face value.

It's all little tricks of the trade - like the same way shops price up items as £8.99 because it *looks* like it's going to cost £8 that way.

Maybe there is a way to make more money from your provider? If you can get them one lead at $3 I'm sure you can get more - you just need a better deal!

    Peace,
    Gh0zt

I just checked on CJ and 1and1 is showing that they only pay $3 commission for Basic Linux Hosting, which is what you sold. If you look under the program terms, it lays out the various commissions paid for different products sold.

      I'm curious if that's $3 per month or just a flat $3?

Also, it isn't that bad considering the sale price is just under $12. If the price was $100 then i would move to another affiliate program because there's no way I'm working for peanuts (3% affiliate commission).

That $20 per 12 month commitment sounds about right. The more the customer commits the more they give you for leading to that customer commitment.

$12 isn't much but $3 is a start, so either pick a better affiliate program or start cranking out those sales more

Why don't you start your own reselling business... It's really not that hard. And for that customer who bought the $20 package, you could've grossed $240 per year instead of $11, $20 or even $100.

Don't stop what you are doing if that $3 is recurring. If not then change to better providers.

    Not for me.

I think they're a scammy, scummy, unethical, and fundamentally dishonest company, whose services I would never dream of recommending to a friend or relative. And if I won't recommend something to a friend or relative, I'm certainly not recommending it to a customer, visitor or subscriber, because my reputation as a marketer is one of my business's most valuable assets.

If you have a good look through the forum at what experienced, successful members are saying about them, you'll very quickly understand why I have this perspective.

Even within the last week, a couple of people have spontaneously told me openly that in their opinions my choice of language in calling that company "fundamentally dishonest" was too mild and tactful.

I suggest you use Google to read a little about, and form an impression of, the long and unpleasant history of all the problems they've apparently caused some of their customers over billing, payment processing and financial issues.

I know hosting offers can be quite lucrative, but here's the thing: there are so many well-paid ones around that there's no need to promote things which are just going to cause your future customers all kinds of problems.

Promoting 1and1, and hosting companies owned by the dreaded Endurance International Group (such as the one in your signature) is emphatically not for me.

    Just my perspective.

I'm glad that someone spoke up about 1an1. They provided me with the worst hosting experience I've ever had, so far.
