Is blogging dead Today

Hello,
Fellow Warriors,

Hope you all are doing Great. Actually I have a question which is wandering in my mind. It is that can we assume that blogging is all dead now. Because I have seen that Many professional bloggers are not updating their blogs so frequently as they do it few years back. The end of "Technorati" which accept blogs is no longer available for it.

I just want to know your opinions on it. What you guys think about this. Is blogging really ends?

His answer is actually very accurate and appropriate. All of those have been declared DEAD weekly for years.

Sigh. Humor is most certainly dead, especially around these parts.

The question of whether something is dead or not has been going on since I've been here and long before that.

The truth is, garbage ANYTHING is dead. The key is to find the good in something. In some areas, this is harder to do than in others. But one thing that can't be denied is this.

Content, or more specifically communication, is what makes our whole world run. Without it, we'd all grind to a halt. You can't find one place at Google or any search engine for that matter where, if you typed in whatever it is you were looking for, some kind of content, whether it was text, video or audio, didn't show up near the top of the SERPs.

We read, we listen, we watch. That's what we do. So as long as that's what we do and that's what we WANT, content (GOOD CONTENT) is always going to be in demand.

If you think blogs are dead, do yourself a favor and look at all the top results that are on blogs. Wordpress isn't exactly starving these days and neither are plugin developers.

Sure, if you put a piece of crap up on a blog, it's going to perform like a piece of crap. But if you put time and effort into it, that's a different story.

So yeah, everything is dead if you're gonna phone it in.

And that's what a lot of people around here are looking to do.

To expand a little on what Alexa said, the divide between static business websites and blogs keeps getting narrower.

Static business websites are getting updated more frequently and bloggers content is getting more compelling; less of the 'what I ate for dinner' blog posts. (Unless you own a foodie blog)

Since Google and the general public wants frequently updated good content, you need to give it to them if you want to compete.

          What is blogging?

A platform to post, distribute and get comments back on your content.

          So is the platform dead?

          Hardly.

Nielsen, the well-respect research firm, tracked 181 million blogs 2 years ago. If you extended their graph out three more years to 2014 the number would be closer to 275 million.

WordPress, the largest blogging platform company reports:

"Over 409 million people view more than 15.8 billion pages each month."

"Users produce about 43.7 million new posts and 58.8 million new comments each month."

          Is blogging dead?

Is content creation and distribution dead?

Yeah everything is dead (yeah right). Including Youtube... for most people. Some people i know are killing it... millions of views ridiculously quickly. Gotta put in some work and test, and market your blog to get traffic and blog subscribers. I can tell you for a fact that blogging ISN'T dead. Your marketing might be dead... that might be the problem.

I don't think so. Google still loves unique content and comments below it. And also blogging is still very good way to give value to your subscribers or visitors. Third, your blog can help you with your branding, which is very important these days. Forth, your blog and the traffic which it can generate, because of the unique content, can be a great source of income through ads or affiliate offers. Fifth, I can tell you that the best in the industry are still creating blog posts(yes, with less text and video in the post). So, my conclusion is that blogging is not dead, you can still get a lot from it.
    Hope that helps, vishwa

They aren't dead, but it does certainly feel like they are declining, partly due to saturation and the sheer volume of competition. I'm moving away from them to other types of websites which offer more profitable models.

But you can still do well with blogs, especially in new and emerging markets where you can get in first on the topic to become an authority. Easier said then done though.

funny u mention that. i noticed ive been getting a lot of emails lately for private blog networks or pbn products. a little red light went on in my head. whenever i see a bunch of products come out for the same technique to do xyz then i suspect the technique is not as effective as it once was. i dont believe guru's reveal successful methods until said method is in it's decline. i know that's cynical thinking but it's my humble opinion. no facts to back it up...just my gut feeling about how product cycles work in im world. lol

If there is a serious question to asked, more than likely it will get a serious and well deserving answer.

It is usual to see how serious a question is by the response it gains in the forum.

by your standard then, i'd say judging by the answers the original poster is getting now, i'd say it was a pretty fair question.

  • Blogging is not dead, nor will it be for some time. People use the internet to find answers to questions they may have, and more and more people are using the internet on a daily basis.

I hope your not basing your "professional bloggers" off people who say they are professionals, and actually looking into the professional blogs and bloggers.

Take a look at Forbes and SEJ, they are pushing out content still, nothing has slowed them down.

But there are areas that are dead or soon to be in the blogging world.
    1. Link stuffing = dead
    2. Mass daily back-linking = Dead
    3. Poor content = dead

As long as your pushing out great content that will help your readers, and properly SEOing it, then you should be fine.

    Not today; no.

Rumors of its demise have been greatly exaggerated. It's true that on Tuesday night it was feeling a little shaky, but not even serious enough to call the doctor, and sure enough yesterday morning it was back in flourishing health again. Must just have been something it ate ("Squidoo", possibly ).

Blogging isn't dead at all: it's just very vague and ill-defined.

About 50% of my subscribers think my main business sites are "blogs" and the other half think they're not. Who knows what it even means any more? My sites are technically built from "blogging software" but they don't "look like blogs": they don't have dated posts, frequent updates, and so on. So who knows, or indeed cares?

Note, though, that in addition to blogging not being dead, it also isn't in itself a monetized activity. Actually, the truth is that it never has been.

      This. ^^^^^

As usual, Alexa makes excellent points which bring a lot of clarity.

Too many people think "blogging" is an income-producing activity in and of itself. It's most decidedly NOT.

Too many people think if they start a blog, they're somehow starting a business. They're not. Instead, they start a blog, then look around, wondering how to monetize it.

Blogging is easy to start and difficult to sustain. And most assuredly, blogging is NOT a business.

Blogging may be going through some changes, but it's not dying. Don't believe everything you read online.

Good thread. Blogging works for sure, it's just that you need to come up with unique content every couple days and that can become tricky after a while. Also takes a while to build loyal followers but it is nice when they look forward to what you post. As far as making money with it is another story but Amazon can be profitable.

Yep, alive and well here in Fiji.

Awesome vehicle for branding and growing a venture, and of course, for inspiring folks to be free.

Like any opportunity whatever you put into blogging, creating massive value and building bonds with authority bloggers, comes back to you multiplied.

I'd say, spend some time working on your mindset. Meditate. Listen to your inner guidance. Working on how you feel will open your eyes to the opportunities around you.

I have a question for the OP.

Can you still make money by creating a blog aimed at selling things to newbie marketers, including a link in your signature and then posting something with a controversial headline on a popular forum? Could you use a popular search phrase that might get Google traffic as well?

If so, that would be awesome! Oh man, why isn't anyone doing that....

Because I have seen that Many professional bloggers are not updating their blogs so frequently as they do it few years back. The end of "Technorati" which accept blogs is no longer available for it.
Who are these 'professional bloggers' you are talking about? Care to name some names?

Matt Cutts could be considered a 'professional blogger' as he is a professional (web spam expert for Google) and maintains a blog. His blog is regularly updated. Of all people, you would think if a Google employee is updating his own blog would know the truth. As the Matt Cutts blog ranks high regularly for terms related to Google and SEO, maybe he doesn't think blogging is dead. So maybe we shouldn't either.

Blogging makes money but it's a lot of hard work. You have to hustle up interviews, original content, and advertisers. It's not for the weak of heart of the soft of spirit.

    Blogging is not Dead.
It takes time and a lot of effort!
Creating new and exciting content is not easy, and if someone told you it is then their having you on!
Getting people to interact on you blog is so so important!
Its also important that you make a little bit of money on the side, this doesn't have to be millions of dollars, but just to help you get bye and pay for the blog.
I'm interested to see what everyone else have to say.
