Tip on naming your facebook group

I have 4 facebook groups... 2 are "relatively" active, and each group gets at least 5-10 new members that ask to join a week...

The other two are complete duds, with less than 10 people in each group...

I've placed ads to try and get people to join all of my groups, but they never really work. I think what helps the most is the NAME of my group. My 2 active groups (each with over 100 people in them) have the keywords FIRST in the group name. So I would suggest doing that... say you're group is about "dog training"... I would make your group name "Dog Training 101" instead of "Tips to help train your dog" etc.

You get the idea. People will search "Dog training" and there's a chance your group will automatically pop up. So name your group using your keywords first. That might be kind of obvious but maybe not for some people and I wanted to share...

It works!

Excellent tip. And also naming your group 'lovers' or 'fans' etc - I run a moose appreciation group (northern breed dogs) entitled I Love Snowdogs, over 6K members.

Adding "rights" or "experts" or "clan" or "tribe" etc. helps too.

I run some fairly big FB groups and pages (XXX,XXX).

I'm currently working on a free tutorial in this area, but for now I'm happy to share 2 tips that will help you grow your groups.

    1. Naming Psychology

Unlike SEO for a website, and domain naming, effective group or page naming is less reliant on keywords than it is on psychology. Why is this? Two words: social environment.

Let's say your primary keyword is horror movies.

    Weak group names would be:

    Horror Movies
    Horror Movies Are Awesome
    We Love Horror Movies

These names create zero psychological response from the target market.

    Now for some good names:

Hollywood, STOP REMAKING Our Favorite HORROR MOVIES!
Love NEW Horror Movies, Hate Horror Movie Remakes!
House of Horror Movies. NOT House of Horror REMAKES!

Horror movie fans feel strongly about the issue of horror remakes; most do, anyway. The above titles engage your audience. They make them want to join in order to:

    A. Support the cause;
    B. SHOW how they feel about a cause.

    2. Page Feeding

Growing a page is easier than growing a group, but you'll find groups to be more profitable for a number of reasons. What you should do is feed your group with a related page. You're going to find here that if someone is willing to first join your page, and THEN join your group, he or she is an ardent supporter of whatever your group is about. This makes them a better marketing prospect. Anyway, I digress. Use your page, or multiple pages, to feed your groups on a daily basis.

The above 2 methods will give you faster and more consistent page growth. Lastly, although my examples above of group names are not actually that great (not my niche), the idea is to use group names that encourage a viral effect.

If your group doesn't work with paid advertising then actually I would say your group name is not very good. I would tell people to not focus on keywords because the majority of your traffic is not (and should not) be reliant on people searching for your group.

You are much better off to name your group in a way that evokes emotions with your target audience.

It depends on the niches. I see many groups with over 10k members have boring names.

Hi CA marketing, I typed what to call your facebook group on Google and this post came up. I love it. Short and sweet. Just as I like it. I want to call my group something cute like empowee six figure bloggers or empowee six figure entrepreneurs for millenials who want to make create a 6 figure online brand. We can do it ❤️
