What are the main ways to market a product or service?

I need a list of the most popular marketing methods, to market any product or service. I am trying to learn more marketing methods, so let's list as many as possible. I'll start off with a few:

1. Door to door
2. Adverts in forum posts online
3. Cold calling on the phone
4. Leaflets through doors
5. Sending out ads in the mail
6. Newspaper ads
7. Magazine ads
8. Radio ads
9. Tv ads
10. Google ads
11. Facebook ads
12. Classified sites online (e.g.g Backpage, Gumtree etc).
13. Ads on bulletin boards

I think you need to remove the word "any" from your description.

Not all marketing platforms are created equal for all products.

Some do very well door to door - but, trying to sell a webinar door to door will be a bad use of time.

But, you have all sorts of social media platforms that have advertising services, I've seen tattoos used to promote products, vehicle stickers/magnets, pens/pencils, business cards, coke cans, signs stuck in the ground to promote political candidates and yard sales...

There's just so many ways...the key is going where your potential customers are...that's it.

Oh my god, why do you want to learn so many methods? Slow down!It doesn't matter what method do you use if you can't get people's attention and interest. So focus more on creating top quality product. And you don't have to use many methods, you should find out what methods work best for you and then stick to those methods.

Focus on a few, like some internet ads, telephone, mail mergs etc... then once you have masted them move on to master more.

You're better off creating or finding a product, learning the methods you could potentially use to sell that particular product then test these methods for yourself. Learning this way also gives you the opportunity to discover which methods actually work and how to optimize each instead of just learning the theory then moving onto the next.

Ok so I think your getting a bit carried away. Step back and re priorities because your running the risk of information overload and instead of making progress, you find yourself treading water and not taking much in.

so this is what I would... choose 1 method you want to explore and then learn as much as you can but give your a deadline. This will keep you from looking too much into it.

once you have an idea you want explore how you can make a business out of this. Is there a demand for something you can give value?

Once you done that look at your model and try to figure out what it will take to make sure you are making money. I.e social media marketing etc..

once your making regular money then and only then should you explore another method.

it took me a while to understand that but now I followed my own advice and making enough money to live off comfortably.

Remember its not a sprint but its a marathon. Your in this for the long run right?

Alot of these methods suck. Depending on your product and your marketing budget... you could make good money off of direct mail alone. I see only 2 good online marketing methods from the list. It's not hard - dont drive yourself nuts, because by the end of the month, you're more than likely just going to have about 3-4 key strategies that bring in the bulk of your money for you.

    I still like:

    1. Pay per click (make sure you only work with the TOP search engines and avoid the smaller ones)
    2. Solo ads

Any every time you PAY for traffic, you want to track where sales are coming from so that you know what works and what doesn't.

How you market a product depends on the product itself. The great thing is that most audiences are online now so effective marketing and lead gen is easy as ever. I'd recommend crafting a lead magnet then using that to upsell into the actual product that you're selling.

I would start with FREE TRAFFIC, articles, forums, classified, video (especially)

once you make money, you need PAID traffic. No ONLINE millionairs make millions from FREE traffic, its all paid. We make $xx,xxx a month using facebook and BING, and other PPV paid traffic. That is where the big money is.

Have to spend money to make money these days.

Having to pay is HIGHLY DEBATABLE. If you can buy its faster to make your money. I think that is a more accurate statement. I like your choice of free traffic suggestions.

As others have mentioned there are different ways to market products, in the offline world, and in the online world, it just depends what is being sold with that being said.

A few ways I can think of to market offline businesses include.

    1.) Mailing postcards
    2.) Door hangers
    3.) Word of mouth
    4.) Classified Ads
    5.) Radio Ads
    6.) Local SEO
    7.) Video Marketing

A few ways I can think of to market offline businesses include.

1.) Paid Advertisement - PPC / Banners / Solo Ads / Done For You Services
2.) Free Advertisement - Forums, Blogging, Guest Blogging, Video Marketing

It's always smart to make a decision to build a list of targeted subscribers,

with doing so that allows you to establish a relationship and credibility market over and over to them.

    Hope this helps.
