Hello Warriors!!! I want to earn a living with the help of domain flipping any suggestions, knowledge or experience would you all like to share?
#domain #flipping
  • Domain Flipping is a rather different & unique method to make money online. Personally, I'm also in this field and focus init more than anything else.

The best advice for a novice flipper would be to join the following forum:
    - NamePros.com
    - DNforum.com

You can find a wealth of knowledge there, for which you'd have to pay someone in Warrior Forum through the WSO section.

Don't buy your first domain untill you get your feet wet. The biggest mistake domainers make is to think they know alot and end up investing in 10's to useless domains with no value.

    Best of luck

No - nobody can tell you the price for it. (And especially not an automated process! Those valuations are meaningless).

It's worth whatever you can sell it for.

    Emphasis on the word "you".

What matters is your skill-level in indentifying, approaching and negotiating with the people whose own businesses predicate that the domain-names for sale may have artificial/additional value. (If those people don't know that the domain-name is for sale, it makes no difference where the transaction is executed.)

The reality is that the value of a domain-name is its registration-fee. If you want people to pay you more than that for them, without them having proven income (and "traffic" isn't "income"), you need to find the people to whom they may be worth more, because one thing's for sure: each domain is only "worth" to you what you can sell it for.

The art, and the money, lie in correctly identifying before buying them how easy that's going to be to do.

    .

Domain flipping is a very lucrative business - ONLY if you have the patience and determination to learn what works and what doesn't work. Many people have lost significant amounts of money by doing it wrong. I echo the post above that suggests you should spend time at the two main domainer forums - NamePros.com and DNforum.com. I personally spent years on those forums before I really understood the business.

Will do it because Google is most reliable in terms of fetching knowledge on any topic.

You're best off in all honesty. With the correct search pattern, you'd be surprised what information is readily available. Only ever join a list or purchase a product as a last resort. I'm not trying to do anyone out of business here; if people are selling information that is freely available, they need to step up their game anyway. Just trying to save you some pennies, buddy.

Specialize in the hottest niches in EXPIRED DOMAINS. Much better than working from scratch. Although 'brandable' industry-specific names can make you more money, expired domains provide a more consistent income stream if you know what you're doing.

Once you get the hang of domain flipping, you'll begin to see regular, daily income. There are two general ways to do it: flipping with regularity and holding onto the commodity sometimes for years. The latter approach yields the highest return, in my experience, but the costs involved can be prohibitive for newcomers (xx,xxx / xxx, xxx). To anyone getting into domaining, I'd always advise a simple approach: registering the "right domain" and acquiring experience by selling. Don't let people tell you that profit cannot be made from registering a new domain for a few bucks. Absolute rubbish. Some of the sales you get from those few bucks make even my head spin at times.

Actually, domain flipping is not just about expired domains. Any domain that you buy, whether it's brand new, available, expired, or owned by someone else, can be flipped. It's just a matter of selling at a higher price than what you paid for it.

Quite logical, it's same like online equity or commodity trading. Without any actual physical product anyone can buy or sell it!!!

Really awesome concept. All about buy low, wait and sell high. You can try to test it with flippa to see how it goes. Read a lot but practice is also important.

It is an excellent way to put your research and investment skills to the test and generate real online income. It's also a fantastic way to learn what startups, online companies and marketers value in a domain name and online presence.
Don't be afraid to take a long-term strategy to domain flipping and hold domains for years at a time. Remember, it's better to sell your domains at a huge profit in months than it is to sell them at a modest profit in mere days.
Thanks a lot for this valuable information.

    Gene is right.

When it comes to trading low-level domains - the brand-new ones that I register - I tend to buy and sell within 48-hours. This has taken years to learn, but you can certainly flip quickly once you acquire your own system. Higher-level domains - those selling in the x,xxx to x,xxx, xxx range - may take a decade to sell in some cases. Serious domainers are quite happy to hold onto them, though, since the ROI works out well when you divide profit by years.

Hey that's interesting you sell within 48-hours!!! It's a decent business, even if you're getting 10%. Fast turn around time and regular income. Smart way to do it.

        Thanks!

The decent money is in development, and while I do this too, I do like the regular sales and just the overall "fun of the sale." I've made quite a bit more money, say, on developing a site for 2 years, or holding onto a domain for that long or longer, but quite often you get a bigger buzz from paying pennies for a new registration and selling for xxx to x,xxx. A lot of people think it's impossible, and it isn't easy I grant you, but as my old economics professor was want to say: the greater fool theory of pricing tells us the price of something is whatever the bigger fool will pay. Sometimes you just have to be lucky to find a bigger fool ha

You can start on domain forums like namepros, dnforum, warriorforum, DP, etc. Also market places like sedo, flippa, etc.

I suggest you become a member at namepros, it is a very helpful forum for beginners and you can learn a lot from there.

I feel that dot coms have seen their prime price and there is going to be a gradual decline in their value from now on. This is because of the launch of new gtlds like .club .cool .expert .guru .xyz etc. Buyers who want to be unique and stand out from the crowd will embrace the new tlds. Not only do the new domains make the domain name more memorable, they also improve relevance. For example, my ebook on domains (which includes the topic of domain flipping) is on a .domains name. That improves the relevance to both users and search engines.
What do you think will be the impact of the new domain extensions being launched in 2014 ?

I got to know a new approach and aspect of these new domain suffixes. Few days back i was searching for domain on Godaddy and came across to several new suffixes and i thought who is going to buy it so i didn't even paid much attention but now after reading your point of view, i think should give a second thought to it.

Domain flipping is a beginners trap. People do make money with it, but it's like learning how to become a blacksmith in the real world. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should.

Focus your efforts on learning something that's going to payoff and teach you a lot of things that can be used to grow your business..

Create a product and learn how to sell it.
or become an affiliate and sell other peoples products.

Either way you want to get into something sales related. Sales is the most important aspect of any business and if you know how to sell any product, You can write your own checks and a world of new opportunities opens up to you that many people don't see.

I have tried affiliate sale and still promote products via my email subscribers list but it seems to be a hard nut to crack. Product creation and selling is also a lucrative option but currently i don't have a good idea and money to invest in this business. On the other hand domain flipping is something which i am interested.

How can I say this politely? I disagree. Strongly.

For a start, domain flipping IS sales related. A domain IS a product. And selling it IS an aspect of your business. I could go on, really, and find more holes. In short: it certainly is not a beginners game (unless I'm a beginner after 2 decades) and there certainly is money in it; an awful lot. If you've had no success yourself, perhaps you either lack the knack or the knowledge.

Edit: The above seems harsh; sorry. I never PM secrets. I'd rather be public and help more people. If you look around, much of the information is scattered around the 'net. The rest you'll pick up from experience and one-to-one tips.

Hahaha! Mine as well. Which platform do you use to buy and sell domain names?

Do you mean like Sedo, etc? I don't. Have used them all at one time or another, though. Sales now come from my own traffic platforms (sites, lists, networks), people I know, and direct communication with new contacts. None of which helps you very much right now, so I'd suggest making direct contacts for now. Proactive measures. You'll have a lot more success regging the right domain and going after the right "future" owner.

Have you had any sales up until now? I think I read you put your domains on Sedo, or was that another thread? Need caffeine . . . bbs.
