Content within my Categories - Is this an Issue?

Blog posts on my website are organized in categories. Let's say one of my categories is coffee.

Clicking the coffee category will bring up the URL mywebsite[dot]com/category/coffee.

However, all of the posts within coffee are /mywebsite[dot]com/coffee/howtomakecoffee. "Category" is taken out.

The URL mywebsite[dot]com/coffee goes to the same page as mywebsite[dot]com/category/coffee, but the latter is used when manually navigating to the coffee category.

Is there a negative impact in this difference in URLs? Is it worth my time to address this?

What platform is your website running on? If it's wordpress this is pretty easy to change. For me, I am very particular and would correct this, but that's just me..

I would definitely change this and remove 'category' from your url. Whether or not Google cares, people care and the shorter and more consistent your URLs, the better.

Agreed, having "category" in the URL does not makes much sense in terms of SEO or general usability.

Having the category listed in your URLs won't affect your SEO efforts. However, you can remove it anytime. It won't make a huge difference.

I also organize my articles by using categories, but I don't put the "category name" on the link.
Actually, it's just in the settings of my WordPress sites.

I don't think you have a problem at all if I'm reading your statements properly.

When you click on the CATEGORY TITLE, you go to the CATEGORY PAGE, which would list category in the URL. That makes perfect sense.

When you click a blog post within the category, you go to the POST, which will not have the word category in it, because it is not a CATEGORY PAGE.

When I say "Category Page" that is basically the directory page for all posts tagged with that category.

To me, it sounds like your blog is working properly and needs no adjustments.
