Is it safe to put my email address in my free .pdf report?

Hi guys,

I would like to ask a question.

Right now, I'm writing a free .pdf report and I would like to put my email address in the report, so that my readers could contact me.

But if I put my email address in the report and I upload it into the Internet (and people share the report) and Google spider and index it, would it become exposed to spammers' email harvester?

Should I write my email in the report in this format, myemail(at)mydomain.com and without any active link in it? Or is it ok to just write it in normal format, myemail@mydomain.com with an active link in it?

Thanks,
Zaki

No, I'm not capturing any email to build my list from the report. My question is about putting my email address in the report.

If I put it in a hyperlinked text such as you told me, ("Contact Me Here" but with an active link to my email address), would that be safe from any spammer's email harvester?

mzakih - Hi! I put a link that I connect through the controlled email to my cpanel. Also, you can place your email on the optin pg that you are offering your book on this way your auto responder can offer spam check.. for you. Also, you can place a few different links in the book that will offer you more ways to receive more leads. All will work out well, bc some will want to contact you about different marketing things and when you also help them with this they pass the word around about you and they give their own contacts usually a copy of your book,.. so more contacts you should have more leads!! : ) contact me back if you get time.. I would like to know how it goes for your marketing. I like working with most in the warrior. I enjoy everything here, I wish I had more time! Mastery Plan

not unless your pdf goes viral.

We have one this, and our PDF's have done ok.

One of our PDF's back in 2008 when the market crashed go over 1.3 Million downloads, and having the email in there was A friggen nightmare.

So if it goes viral you might have a problem, if not you should be ok.

If a reader can determine your email address, then your email can be harvested. Some methods of writing an email are designed to protect against scraping scripts, but there is no way to protect against manual harvesting.

If you want to provide an email to readers, link to a contact page on your site. If the address becomes a problem, you can easily change it.

    1. If your PDF is published online and linked to from your website then yes, there is always the possibility of it being indexed and the content inside it being indexed also. That includes your email address.

    2. Writing your email as email(at)domain.com or any other similar variation will not stop it being harvested. People who harvest email addresses are not stupid and know that many people write them in this fashion. Thus their scrapers would be looking for any text in that format also.

The best way to stop your email address from being harvested is to never publish it online (use a helpdesk instead) or just create an image with your email address and put the image inside your PDF report instead.

yes, I'd go for that as well...but to tell you the truth - I'm "forgetting" it in most cases...
