    Do you have business cards?

Are you prepared to knock on doors, buy dinners, and have conversations?

What you have chosen to do works great when you can build a relationship Face to Face with this model. There is SO MUCH MONEY to be made by meeting people.. but many leave it on the table because they are afraid to go meet someone and buy a meal for them.

BTW.. One of my very good High School friends has built 2 multi million dollar businesses in computers and networking doing EXACTLY what I described above. He buys dinners, gets to know leads, and then sells HIMSELF.

So there, go out and sell yourself!

Maybe I'm just being a sarcastic jerk here; but if you're an SEO expert on the level that you can offer services to "high paying clients" then shouldn't you have already positioned your business to be in front of those that would look for it?

    Food for thought.

Agree, if you plan to sell SEO, use SEO to be found, otherwise be ready to knock doors trying to sell something you're not ready to proof

At the risk of joining the ranks of "sarcastic jerks", if someone's SEO service is all I need to get more business than I can handle, and "#1 on Google" is the holy grail, how come I get so many blind email solicitations for SEO services?

The OP asked for tips, so here's a good one.

If you do decide to go one on one with potential clients, do not go on and on about ranking on the search engines. Most of the businesses a newcomer like yourself has a shot with won't care about ranking for the sake of ranking. Talk in terms that they are interested in, like more leads, more foot traffic to their stores, more money in the till, more orders, etc.

The responses have been correct, get your site ranked for SEO related keywords that REAL buyers would be typing in, try giving out some free tutorials on SEO and build a mailing list. The best way to sell SEO is to have proof of your services through a portfolio of high ranked keywords.

Find leads manually and contact them through site with a solution. I get tons of emails on my niche blogs and personal sites with people offering SEO services.

You could even offer some free SEO services with the launch of your business, build a rep by proving your services work and naturally others would be interested.

All the best for your new business buddy!

Focus on local clients and offer a combo package of internet site/store as well as SEO. The offline client might not have the same access to cheap online 'seo' work. So he would be willing to pay more.

Yes and no. I have no SEO website of my own. I don't generate leads from SEO but I still get leads from other sources.
