How to create that email thing

okay i have a site now how do i make that thing other sites have that when you visit them a window pops up and asks for your email and then you get a free download or whatever, thanks. so i can build a list

    Hi,

    I think you have the right idea, but a wee bit of research coming up.

    "That email thing" is officially called an opt-in box. Most ask for like the least amount of info possible, like name and email address. The more information you ask your visitors to put down, the less likely they are to fill it out.

    You're talking about a pop-up opt-in box. I don't know about you, but I personally LOATHE pop-ups. I'll click off a site with one of those faster than all get-out.

    I much prefer putting one on either a squeeze page or on your home page - an opt-in box, that is.

    A squeeze page is dedicated solely to getting the visitor to fill in the opt-in box and get the Wonderful Freebie.

    Your home page is just that - your Home. The opt-in box is usually in a sidebar (my own preference) or you can have it somewhere in your text.

    To build and manage your list, it's best to use a list manager service such as Aweber or GetResponse.

    This is not the place to skimp on money; once you select your list manager, transferring an existing list over to a new manager will pretty much guarantee you'll lose subscribers.

    Personally, I prefer Aweber, but there are others who have equally strong preferences elsewhere.

      so i use wordpress for my site do i just install a plugin for the opt in box because i agree with you pop ups turn off customers now days so i would want a nice small once on the side or bottom of my site

          Me and Harry the help vampire had a discussion the other day in a thread.

          Since then, it appears that Harry totally ignored my advice (to use his initiative and google) and wants to come here to have his hand held constantly.

          What bugs me more is that Harry is now offering advice here - which is good on one hand, but not so good as he tries to send people to his site to use his affiliate links and his site - 'my online millions' - contains gems like -

          their are other sites and E books out their telling you how to make money but the way I am going to teach it to you is by far the most professional, easiest and quickest way to make a large income stream

          Like you, I too have fell for these get rich quick scams far too many times, but I learned from my mistakes and now I make a killing online.

    I guess if you know how to make millions then $20 per month for Aweber should be feasible.

    Knock yourself out and build a big list with free software dude and see how far that sets you back.
