Craigslist Is Still Profitable

Yes, I hear many people saying all throughout this forum that Craigslist is no longer profitable. That there's really no way to monetize posting your own ads or responding to potential client's ads.

I make plenty enough to pay the bills with Craigslist, but for some reason all people seem to think you can do is just post ads to your services. There's far more you can do than that.

You have to get creative, you have to think outside the box and use and utilize other tools around you and available to you to develop your own way to make it work.

I agree, when it comes to ad posting CL is run by nazi's. However, I'm blown away more marketers aren't raging about CL because there are so many potential clients it's ridiculous.

I made this thread because there are so many newbie marketers raging over the next best thing constantly but really, you're never going to find the magic golden goose just hoping. Even all my products are about taking well known sources and throwing your own spin on them. Don't be a follower, be a leader! Innovate and create! If I hadn't, I'd been like all the other marketers who gave up on CL, or whatever others tools people use.

Most of us know big websites with big and well known tools. Get creative and put them together to get some sales. I hope this inspires others to get creative and create something new.

This thread was made for any marketer looking for the next best thing to fall in your lap, YOU NEED TO BE THE ONE TO MAKE THAT NEXT BEST THING AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.

One of the reasons you'll find marketers not raving about it is - perhaps - because it is so good. Reading between the lines, and the lines themselves, and I can tell you do well with it. I remember when it was easy pickings (remember how nice it was years ago?) but "out of the box" thinking is the way to go now. A lot of the people complaining are those who just haven't adapted and still try to use practices that worked 5 years or more ago. Glad to see you're doing well.

Craigslist is no longer what it used to be years ago. It's now way too saturated by people using the same methods, products and services. I have to agree with you that thinking outside the box is the way to go. You need to elevate yourself from the competition and bring forth something different than the rest of the crowd.

You are talking about posting services correct? I know a lot of people who complain it is no longer profitable post "make money online" products in the jobs section.

If you are talking about services, I 100% agree.

      No.

It's because It's so strict that ads will get ghosted and deleted for absolutely no reason.

Spam marketers are of course, to blame. The ones who suffer are the legit businesses that just want to get their name's out their on CL and they have every right to advertise. It's not fair that by putting one ad up to advertise your business (Not spamming) you get ghosted and penalized because the CL algorithm is so strict it can't tell whether you're spam or not. Or, other businesses who are in the same boat will SPAM their ad everywhere in all different cities, etc. It only makes sense CL has to do what it does but...

Good luck trying to advertise any business/service on CL. It's really hard in some cities where others your ads stay up. No idea why.

Craigslist isn't run by Nazi's, Craigslist was ruined by spammers and scammers.

It's because It's so strict that ads will get ghosted and deleted for absolutely no reason.
I've never had a single ad ghosted or deleted, then again I only use CL for what it was built for.

If you ever go under services, and post in either Creative Services Or Computer Services you cant expect to get ghosted like crazy.

I have to agree with this. The spammers "may have" made them that way, but the mods on there are so ill-educated about ethical business that they haven't the good sense to moderate effectively. Amazingly enough, they still haven't sorted the unethical problem - not after all these years. I could talk all day on the subject, but it wouldn't benefit anyone. Upshot is: CL is a goldmine but for the last 5 years it's been one of the hardest places to market well. Not a place for the newbie, that's for sure.

Craigslist staff is not that big, they don't have an army of mods to cover the whole site. I wouldn't be surprised if 99% of the ads taken down are from competitors flagging ads.

Being a CL mod has to be one of the most annoying jobs there is on the net, I imagine they are fed up with all the spam and scams. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin the bunch, in CL's case, it's a massive amount of bad apples that ruin the few good ones.

    Hi Warriors ,

I did read all the comments in this thread & I really appreciate your point.

I too have bit of point (pain) to share with you all.

I use to prepare my own ad contents / titles & also choose the cities & post in services section.
I never copy someone else's post or flag their posts.
But the competitors who follows unethical practices , do copy exactly the same content that I use along with banners & post under their ad , but would flag my posts.
At the end the original content will be mine , but my ad will be flagged & the competitor will use the same content & post in his a/c.

So whether you think out of the box or device a new plan/strategy to market in CL , within short span of time , there will people who clone & put up the ads.

I have been having very tough time with CL for the past 5 - 6 months.

Just based on my personal experience :-)

Man you come off as one classy guy... Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
It's because of bottom feeders like you who will gladly take advantage of thier own friends and family to make a few pennies that places like CL have to crack down...

Grow up clown, this is one of the dumbest crap I've ever heard. What part of "I only use Craigslist for what it was intended for" didn't you understand? I only use CL for buying/selling physical products, or looking for pets, cars, tools or other stuff I may need. I don't use CL to send people to bogus job offers or MMO. I have never had an ad ghosted or taken down, until I take it down myself after it has been fulfilled. I've even gotten a few offline client's from posting ONE single ad on CL. It wasn't some spammy ad, and I'm sure if I look I will find it on CL a year later.

here's a little trick ill give you noobs to get some hope

call a few of your freinds / family members

tell them you need to install teamviewer 9

have 10 of your friends and family do it

once you get in there computer, you can set the setting to open on startup,

then you can post from your family's house's etc

make folder on there desktop, and put your flyers in there contect txt, etc
Good luck trying to get 10 family members to let you take over "there" computers. I highly doubt you got family and friends to do this, you probably spend all day spamming like the rest of them.

I had a $240 sale on one 16 day old Craigslist ad today, not even really trying, maybe 10 min. of work/effort to get the lead.

My last two CL ads generated 10 sales so far. Local service ads, no IM affiliate stuff.

I still make a good bit of cash from the clients I find on Craigslist. My only complaint is that about 80% of the people on Craigslist are time wasters. At the end of the day however, yes it is still very profitable, if worked correctly.

I live at outside USA. I have difficulties to post any ads to CL for the USA region. Because the CL can tracks IP address of internet connection.

I know about both proxy and remote computer are the solution for it.
