Inquiring about those pesky picky clients

I'm wondering how you deal with clients who request multiple edits to a project. Such as a video, illustration, web site ect.

In the contract, should you state the amount of edits you will do after the first draft is sent to the client?

Clients I deal with (mainly small business owners) will send back multiple edits over multiple days.

Sometimes they will say the project looks good then will send an e-mail with more edits a couple days after.

Anyone have any policies they follow?

    I would definitely discus it before hand.

    You might also consider hourly. This might keep some people from abusing your service.

    I personally got out of selling my services to the IM crowd a long time ago.

    Hourly. If you charge hourly you can bill for
    Extra. You probably offered a flat rate. Bad idea.

    1. Raise your prices. You'll immediately attract much better quality customers.

    2. State the number of revisions allowed up front on the agreement they sign. Then also list the hourly rate you will charge for any further revisions after that.

    If they approved it and then want changes you charge them extra. Going through the exact same thing now with clients. They approved the design, now after the fact they want changes. I charge them, if they do not want to add the costs the design stays the same.

    I also have included in my invoice the balance payment terms are 30 days or upon delivery, which ever comes first.

    Some clients take months to make up their minds. So if after 30 days they are not done yet, they have to pay. I refuse to do any more work before they pay the balance and they have to fork out extra for extra work.

    I would also do What Brent and WillR suggests.
