What is currently the best membership software for beginners?

What I am looking for:

- Easy to use for non-technical people
- Low price
- Allows content drip-feeding
- Backed up by a serious company (I don't want something that will stop being supported next year)

I personally use amember but IMO it's not great for beginners.

Suggestions?

I've used WordPress and S2member s2Member® | A powerful (free) membership plugin for WordPress® (not an affiliate link) in the past and thought very highly of it. The free version is great to get started, and you can add other, paid features later.

Another option would be Joomla with the AEC plugin (used to be free, but now paid). I've had good results with that, too.

Totally agree with you on the Wordpress angle. It's well supported, easy to use, cost effective and has countless plugins available. All the best Sarah, Rob

    I would suggest:

    1. Amember - About $197 1 off fee, admin area is awesome and very clear, and I would HIGHLY recommend signing up to www.membershipacadamy.com as well, David knows his stuff and his advice helped me A LOT throughout the process of setting up my membership site. Only 'con' I would say is that the template editing is a bit of a mission to get your head around, however if you need help with that let me know and I can give you the custom template I worked on for probably about 50 hours haha, nothing fancy but totally customizable.

    2. Optimizepress - This also has a protected membership area, check this out too, I use Optimize press but because I had my Amember set up before I purchased Optimizepress for my site pages. Some high profile IMers are using this.

Both are cheap one time fee options.

    Hope this helps!

    Charlie.

P.S. Both of these work with wordpress if you would like to go that angle.

s2member for starters, not so sure about the service and backup you are going to get, but it is one of the easiest to get started with on your wordpress blog + it's free for the basic version.

not so sure about the drip content, will have to check my settings again.

another one you may consider is dlquard. Played around with it a bit and it seemed straight forward.

PS : Ditto on amember and some of the others, they can be a bit tough to set up if you are new.

I guess you can use Optimize Press 1 or 2 as well as MemberMouse! I used the first one myself and it is pretty easy and I heard just good things about membermouse.

Thanks everyone! Looks like S2 member has the most votes for beginners. I'll check if it allows drip-feeding...

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Kajabi... which is the easiest out of them all and the nicest looking. Or am I wrong? =D I'd like to hear others opinions on Kajabi also as I'm still doing my research.

WordPress + s2Member is my No.1 solution for membership site.

It is very easy to set up and you can be up and running in less than 30 minutes.

The free version works pretty well and the pro version has more advanced features.

I have tried S2member before and its a great free wordpress plugin to use.

I have also tried premium plugin Member Rocket. Its great for accepting payments and keeping everything secure but not sure if its still avaliable.

I now use Insta Member which I find to be the most attractive and secure platform with lots of built in benefits

You can also add wpdrip WordPress Drip: Setup your blog as an autoresponder with one click and drip your Wishlist Member content out slowly!

this, I think, can be used with wishlist to make dripfeeding your content easier

We use a product called Wordpress eMember which also intergrates with eAffiliate and eStore.

Very simple to use and setup plus does drip feed by using auto update. See it in action here.

OptimizePress would do the job for now (until my drip-feed membership WP plug-in is released )

It's good to see what your requirements are as that'll help us in building ours.

Membership scripts can be a pain, a lot of features that makes it overwhelming in the end.

I put in another vote for S2member and wordpress. Actually switching my sites from Wishlist to S2member. Not because it's a free v.s. paid thing, because it's just better. SO much easier to customize and pretty much all the code is out there, not locked up like Wishlist.

In general, WP membership plugins are easy to use and competitively priced. Personally, I have tried both Optimizepress and s2member. The second one is a better choice for beginners and non-technical people.

Not sure if this is applicable but as for membership I have recommended BMID. From the 24/10 it will be a monthly charge of $29 and basically earn instant $20 into your PayPal account. Sorry once again if this is not what your looking for.

Any questions please feel free to ask otherwise good luck.

I use s2member / wordpress for all of mine. Easy to set up, free and powerful. Wouldn't use anything else ever again. It does it all.

s2member as everyone said. I too vouch for it. They work better for beginners, they can easily grasp things on membership affiliation with s2member.
