Where can I go from here? (Re: Online fitness business)

Hi, I'm new to the Warrior Forum, looking forward to being involved.

I'm a personal trainer, mid 20s, into natural bodybuilding and endurance sports and have specialised in making "muscle building & fitness programs and diet plans" in gyms in the past.

I no longer wish to work in leisure centers and right now I'm more partial to doing something online.
The most obvious thing I can think of doing now is just create a program/diet plan for both my website and Clickbank and possibly some video tutorials for Youtube to get traffic.

What's holding me back is not knowing what would be the best approach - for example should I start on my own by adding the program to my site or start with finding a partner / making an alliance or possibly something else.

Any advice appreciated.

You'll make more commission with your own product, but if you want to make money right away use products from clickbank

I think you might want to try out a little Affiliate Marketing to get some experience under your belt.

That is how most of us got started here.

While you are doing this, by all means be developing your Product.

This is a Niche that you can really set yourself apart if you are talented and have some good products to offer.

But nothing wrong with making some money while you are getting those Programs put together.

Setup your blog and dirt your hands first, and then you can be involved in some partnership. If you work good and setup a good product for affiliate, you can grow fast in this niche.

Learn about internet marketing, building a blog, sales pages, affiliate platforms there is more then just clickbank out there believe me. Think about investigating JV ZOO and DigiResults they both pay into paypal so you can get what we call more instant payments. Clickbank only pays by check every two weeks. If you have a paypal account you can take your payments whenever you wish.

You are a professional you don't need to advertise someone elses product don't go there. Learn how to write your book and platforms online for your book other then the usual like kindle etc. There are plenty of those as well. It pays to JV with Amazon!

You don't need a partner you need affiliates to promote your book for you and you'll be able to find plenty at JVZOO or digiresults.

Just research for now then hit it hard you can do it. You already are an expert and thats all it takes some of had to get to that point.

You don't need to pick a niche so you are ahead there too. It won't take you long to learn the ropes. You've got one of the best niches going for you.

Think of yourself as being in a good place.

Thanks, very motivational and clears up a lot! Was considering combining promotional videos with copy-written articles on my to make each article like a mini Clickbank Sales Page unlike boring generic fitness articles.

It sounds like you have a good amount of experience with this. I would maybe focus in a little bit on who you want to serve. Start getting out some great content. Have an opt-in with a free report or basic workout plan or something and establish a content driven newsletter or info series (videos are always great) to send to the list you build. Check out Jeff Walker for some good launch tips.

All of this is my opinion but I tend to thing a little different then others. Fitness niche is fantastic to make money in, but it requires a heavy dose of branding, and a heavy dose of finding your niche. For example, you talked about endurance programs, are you talking marathon/triathalon or things like warrior dash?

Figure out where you can position yourself in the market and start by creating a course tailored to that. Copy the best out there and in that case it would be Beach Body in my opinion.

Video courses at $100+ a pop, premium content.
    Private Label Supplements
Adoring community that continually pushes it

Example I would use is Warrior Dash which is popular here in Hawaii.

6 week training program to prepare you to kill in Warrior Dash
Complete Video Course - use your iphone/android and a quality wireless mic and create entire workouts - edit with screenflow and/or sony vegas and/or camtasia, etc. $100 for a tripod to put it on and a friend to film you. iPhone films at 1080, render at 720 so you can zoom in and out.
Complete natural body nutrition plan and work out sheets
On demand fulfillment of DVD's that can be popped in at home
Create a mini forum in your member portal
    Price it over $100
Market the hell out of it. The first one would be your personal training clients in the endurance niche.

Private Label Natural (oxymoron?) protein powders and sups. Set up a store with Americommerce and recurring orders to ship out on a monthly basis. Provide an ongoing discount to those who bought your course.

Distinguish yourself and you can make great money since its obvious you are not an arm chair fitness coach (please explain to me why there are so many fat out of shape "trainers" at the gym).

Cons - You need to be comfortable on video. Over time, it gets easier
Cons - A lot of prep planning it out, writing your book, filming and editing
Cons - Proper member set up, WP, OP2, DAP and BB Press - Or Drupal
    Plus - Premium Price Tag
    Plus - Evergreen Content
Plus - Recurring revenue via sups and powders
    Plus - Building a brand

Udemy is a nice platform for a high paying course. But with that you are delving into the world of video creation. Something else to learn about. The below quoted text is good expanded info but aren't you already an expert in one area don't go crazy with that trying to be something that you are not because someone else was successful in that arena. However imitating without copying something that is already successful is good advice too if its your area of expertise ONLY..

Interesting reply and very informative, thanks. I think the most suitable niche/micro-niche would actually be the "muscle building for young men" niche, because I was never into weight loss (plus it's saturated) and I'm more knowledgeable in it than any other.

I want to market in a more compelling way than others in the online fitness world - Instead of basic landing pages with 1-2 before/after images, maybe use high definition videos of my own slim to muscular transformation and some past clients on the site and then compress it all for a powerful Clickbank sales page thereafter.

You mentioned courses there - I was thinking of maybe charging a fixed fee for access to the downloadable program which also includes access to non-downloadable membership protected videos on the site to lower refund rate, might be easier to manage than a recurring product I'm not sure.

      - Regards.

I would start by selling clickbank products while you develop you own product, that way when you are ready to sell your own product you will have some internet selling experience.

    1. You sound like you want to reinvent the wheel. Good luck.

    2. Didn't read everything but if you decide to promote third parties be sure to get a review copy of the product. They will associate the product to YOU directly.

Yes. This is my opinion personally. I assume you want to start online with your expertise so that you can have financial freedom, right? There's nothing wrong with collaboration with others in the form of joint ventures, but when starting out, and if you don't know anything about marketing and traffic generation... i start by myself and learn how to sell the product on my site first. If you don't know how to make money with your product, list, and site... how do you expect your partner (or even affiliate) to make money with your product?

building your list is going to be a very big part of your success. Ultimately that will mean developing a following or community of people who are all interested in your content.

The most important thing you can do right now is get into a habit of creating content and presenting offers.

I'd get started with a simple squeeze with your before and after pictures of your transformation and a free course to introduce people to your methods and create an email series to promote some products you recommend, preferably supplements you used to build muscle or anything like that.

Then create content daily for youtube and share it on facebook/twitter/your own site to start attracting people to your brand and to get them signing up for your list.

As you're building your initial list, start developing your own product and launch it to your list to get started. Afterward you can start recruiting affiliates and getting ready for another product launch that's bigger and better and higher priced than the first one.

This is a start smart, start small process that can deliver big results.
