Translating Your Site and Ebooks

Do you translate your site and ebooks? I use the Google translator on some of our sites, and even though I should imagine it isn't that good, we do get a lot of traffic, and Google seems to love the site.

But, for translating ebooks, I would always use a native speaker. We have just discovered a great Spanish translator, and are looking forward to seeing what happens with our ebooks for the Spanish Community.

Do you translate and what results have you had

I've tried translating pages Bev, but I have to admit they have never made much impact on my figures. It could have been down to the subjects or the length of the pages but either way it seems you had far greater success with yours!

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with your Spanish translator as I have the Spanish rights to an outstanding ebook and I would like to get it translated. I've had a couple of potential translators look at it but they pulled out for various reasons.

I heard a lot, that translate the sites increases traffic and Google loves it. I never did, because they only look crappy. I am doing my business as a German native in Germany and really I am astonished when it comes to translation from English how poorly it is done even if not proceeded completely automatic. I agree: use a native speaker if you want to be understood.
    And:
isn`t that the case with sales letters and ebooks?

In my opinion, translation is a great idea. As a consultant to offline business, if there's scope, I suggest translation of websites to my clients. One of my offline clients who is a software seller got his website made and then I got the website translated in Japanese and believe me, he has got a lot of leads and it helped taking his business to the next level.

Although, I have not yet tried my hands at eBook translation, but I believe it's a great idea.
I have not used any software for translation -always hire human translators.

    My 2 cents
