Advice for a newbie

An in demand product to sell.

Traffic either free or paid. Understand that free traffic takes time to build. Could be a few days or even weeks before you begin to see some results. Paid traffic you can get traffic to your urls in a matter of hours.

Now that we got traffic out of the way the second thing you are going to have to do is test or optimize your site. Having tracking set up on your website makes things much easier but what you want to do is send traffic and see what your traffic is doing. If they are not performing your desired action then you need to make changes and help guide them to do what it is you want done.

Also understand that all traffic not created equal. There is a pretty good thread in here on all about getting good targeted traffic to your websites.

Hope I provided some insight.

My tip to you is - focus on Social Media promotion and creating a community around your site. This way people will be willing to share your stuff with pleasure and you won't have to worry so much about building backlinks etc.

That's a collection of multiple different markets, really, rather than a "niche"?

Nobody's going to argue with that part.

I produce 2-3 per month, myself - and I'm an article marketer (articles are my major traffic-generation method). Quantity doesn't make much difference: what matters is who reads them.

(I wouldn't be able to write 2 articles per day, myself, of the quality I need. )

Be aware that publishing content just on your own site isn't really a traffic-generation method at all: the only traffic that's ever likely to generate is a little, gradual, eventual search-engine traffic, which may be of very, very little value to you anyway: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8659398 (I don't know whether you're an affiliate marketer, of course, but the points made there are valid for many other websites, too).

Simplicity; easy-to-read, easy-to-navigate design; a prominently incentivized opt-in (to build the list you wisely mentioned, above); check that your site works well in all popular browsers (this site helps with that: Check Browser Compatibility, Cross Platform Browser Test - Browsershots ); make sure it's "mobile-friendly" etc. (lots of people use various different "smaller devices" to browse the web, these days); build credibility and relationships; avoid clutter, over-design, hype, "claims", autoplay video, things that make pages slow to load; include the legal requirements (affiliate disclosure, if appropriate, and so on).

Above all: make sure you have precise targeting of a niche, and a realistic traffic-generation plan not centered primarily on SEO (and writing 2 articles per day isn't one!).

More carefully define your niche. If you're working on too broad of a category, you won't rank well for anything as you'll be competing against more well established sites with an established community. Also, brainstorm some unique benefits you can offer to your own readership community that other sites are not currently offering. This will involve analyzing your competitors sites to find out what is missing that you can offer.

I suggest that you make social media pages and interact with your followers. This really helps to get more and more traffic as your followers will basically do all the promoting for you!

ValueNick, I would definitely get some social media involved.

Creating your page and using FB ads to target your audience, then publishing posts onto the fan page to get some social media interaction.

You can also join FB groups, get involved in discussions and every once in a while drop a link to your site (when relevant, of course).

Doing this people will annoy people and won't get you any results.

ValueNick: My #1 advice would be to focus on a free traffic source and be consistent with it.

By free I mean either blogging or creating YouTube videos because they will bring you targeted traffic after a couple of months and position you as an authority.

You won't get instant results with them but don't focus on this and focus on long term results.

Make sure to optimize your site to get as many leads as you can from your visitors.

Some tools I use on my blog are Optin Skin and Ninja Popups and they have worked pretty good.

P.S: If you want to make money from it which I guess you do, them make it on the email follow up, this way people who visit your site won't feel that you want to make money from them.

Just my 2 cents of info here, hope you succeed with your site man.

Social media is the way to go. The traffic you can gain is immense especially if your posting quality. Other than that build a 3 page website with a landing page and give away a freebie. Both work well but one is free and the other is not.

Creating articles and such is all fine and dandy, but what about creating a sales funnel to help increase your income with your new site.

I saw that someone mentioned about attempting to sell through the email follow up series and that may work for some. I used to try this and noticed I made a lot less money than if I simply added a $7 product or something like that on my site. I would create my sites to have massive value, and then this $7 product would follow them around the website on the sidebar the whole time on the site.

It would have an email opt in form with a pic of the product and after they opted into the email they begin going through the sales funnel that explains what they get out of that mini-product (or "tripwire" for those who are familiar with this), then drop them into the email follow up sequence that provides complimentary value to the product and redirects them back to the site multiple times throughout the email series. Thus, driving more traffic back to your site and creating recurring visitors.

This creates an income generating method for your site, brings out the buyers, lets people know upfront that you do offer more than a good read, and can start training your subs to invest money in your products and services.

Where did you get this idea that you need to post twice per day?! That's incorrect.

Also, mental, isn't a niche. Mental health is an entire market. A niche would be a tiny slice within that pie...such as sex addiction.

I agree with Brent Stangel... You need to have an in demand product to sell, whether that product is that of someone else that created it or one that you yourself created.

There is no doubt in my mind that good solid content is key to a successful site..Add videos too if possible!!

You want to focus on high quality content and a simple site design. The site should be designed so that viewers can easily view desired information and also your products. A good website can help with keeping your subscribers and also leading people to your sales funnel.

Make sure when you write you content on your site, you word it so that people who type in search temrs into google and such will match what you write.

Take advantage of H1,2,3,4,5 ect tags to help this along, those would be like heading and sub heading and such.

do your key word research that comes along with this, take a look at things such as google keyword planer or what you would look for.

how do you plan on monetizing your traffic? if at all?

Beside the article, you should do some more SEO work. You can do targeted forum posing, targeted blog commenting, Both do-follow & no-follow back link.

If you want ONE advice, this is it.

20% - Create Content
80% - Distribute Content.

That's all you need to do.

Rather than publishing articles only, if you are the expert start by posting Videos of you explaining or reasoning over other people articles and books on your field

You don't have to write at least 2 articles a day like a robot.

You want to make money from this, so how are you going to do it? I suggest creating your own product instead of promoting an affiliate product, it's way more profitable.

There's no easy answer you need to learn how to build a successful business in this niche. Creating an email list is one of the things to do you're right. Delivering some free content is also good approach.

But now focus on creating your own product and preferable more than one because those are the things that make you real money. Further on you can then promote affiliate products as well to your visitors & customers.

Also do market research carefully to know if you can succeed in this mental niche - is there any profit potential? That means are people actually buying stuffing in this niche?

You mentioned "mental" niche. Is this a niche or market?
