Making nothing on my site

Hello everybody

First, I would like to say thank you for the many of you who offer your advice. Time is valuable and you're donating it. Thank you!

My site, elementary-finance.com, has been great for providing me more freelance article writing than I know what to do with. From that, I have made great money but my site has made next to no money in adsense. I've recently branched out to affiliate marketing and so far I haven't even got a click after about 3 weeks.

I was thinking of writing 25 articles and starting a page on one offer and posting those articles to 20 or so directories and seeing what happens. If any of you have a minute and wouldn't mind taking a look at my site and offering a pointer or two, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks everybody and happy July 4th!

Tim

I would get rid of the video thing for featured content. It appears that it is leading to your own internal pages but it smacks of an ad.

Get rid of that and move your more important content above the fold. :-)

Great site Tim. Good content, good looking etc.
With regards to Adsense, you did a good job on that too. None of the main page. The placement on the inner page is good too. Only thing I would do is change the font color from red to black to blend with the rest of your page.

Not sure what you mean about starting a page on one offer.
I would look into doing some CPA stuff. The topic of your site is perfect for it and it pays pretty good.

If you are going to write those articles, I assume you will be linking to your inner pages. Articles will drive traffic to your site, no doubt about it. If you plan on submitting to EzinesArticles, be sure to submit there first and wait until it is published before submitting to the other directories.

    Good luck!!

The flash video thing didn't really do it for me. Looks a lot more professional underneath your video/slideshow. I'd start there if I were you.

Let me preface this with saying I am still trying to figure out this whole ad thing. I do ok with adsense tho. I have had lots more luck with the simple adsense lists. Not sure why, but when I switched to the lists (usually horizontal) my % went way up. I agree with the previous poster on getting rid of the video looking box. You could just put it further down, but it gets in the way when you are trying to look at the article you just selected.

Now the part I'm not so sure about - more experienced guys feel free to shoot me down. All the affiliate ads to the right seem to fight with each other. I would think that less is more in this area. It is somewhat overwhelming and makes me not want ot look at any of them. I may be all wet but that is my initial opinion.

      Great looking site!

Thanks for your replies thus far. I removed the content block. I didn't think of that.
