Would you give access to your account

Hi Guys

Just a quick question:
Would you give access to your Aweber account to a VA?

I'm thinking in getting a partner to help me manage one of
my sites and was thinking if I must give him access to WP admin.
and to Aweber.

I know about the WP admin. I can create an author/writer account
but for Aweber don't know if this is safe to hand him login details.

What you think?

    Whenever I have used a VA I have done so through a specialised agency or company. They take full responsibility for any unethical or illegal activity that you have not authorised. If you take this route you should feel confident of giving access to you Aweber and other accounts without worrying of any negative issues occurring.

      Great advice! Some people are comfortable with granting access to their Autoresponders or even PayPal accounts to their VAs and other are not. You have to ask yourself this question. But keep in mind that it is very hard to do everything on your own and grow fast...

      That might get you some compensation, but it doesn't necessarily get your Aweber account back from Aweber, if your VA does something that causes Aweber to close it.

      As far as dealings/contracts with third parties are concerned      , you remain responsible for the consequences of the actions of your employees/outsourcees, regardless of the responsibility-taking agreement you refer to above.

    Definitely. If you can't trust the person, don't hire them.

    The more responsibility you can give an employee, the easier your business becomes. Plus you can always check on their activity and see what they've been up to and save a backup of any databases you have through aweber.

    This is one of those 'outside our comfort zone' areas of doing business... but take the plunge and remember if the first person falls through, someone else will work out.

      Respectfully, the potential problems that can arise in these situations relate to "while" his work is being done, not to "after", when the potentially account-closing damage may already have been done.

        My concern is not about account damage as I will monitor the activity in the account.
        What I'm concerned about is:
        is it possible that the VA change the account login details and
        stollen my account and list?

    Seems like these popular email autoresponder services should have created a way to generate special limited admin or VA access by now. Oh well...you gotta trust someone to manage things in your business if you want to leverage your business. It's a risk but you just have to do your best to select your VA carefully and monitor for any malicious activity.

      Yes,this could be a good thing if they have a way to create separate login details for
      an account with limited access.

      Like in WP that we can create accounts for editor,author,etc.

    This issue is no different to off-line businesses.

    Let me ask you this: Do accountants not have access to companies bank accounts? Absolutely! They can easily steal from their employer (and many do). But there comes a time where you must trust the members of your team (and your VA is a member) to complete certain tasks and for this to be achieved, you need to provide the tools.

    A smart move would be to put a system or systems in place to monitor, check and / or audit such tasks. Failure to do this ensures (i.e, checking the checker) a catastrophe in the near future.

    The real questions are... 'How well do you know him?' and 'Do you trust him'

    If you end up doing it, check your account often to make sure its fine, and change your password as soon as you suspect anything

      I personally wouldn't give full access to a brand new VA. Over time you may learn to give the person your full trust because of your experience in knowing how they operate; but in the case of a stranger you just hired, I wouldn't give them access to anything that was critical to the operation of my business.

      You can always take the extra step of having them set up with their own service provider but which you control as the account holder. Your business is not something you should take chances on. How many times have you heard about a trusted partner that got greedy or ruined a business because he had done something unethical?
