Recurring Monthly Fee [Membership Newsletter] - How do I do the billing?

Hi!
My subject line pretty much sums it up.
I want to put together a membership newsletter which I charge a fee for membership... but I'm not sure how to work out the billing!

I'm aiming for a $25-30 a month fee.

Any input from the business end of things would be great. Thanks.

You can do that with PayPal... or 1ShoppingCart.

There are many ways you can do this. Most people go with Paypal as there are many pieces of software that support it. The only issue with paypal is that it forces you to have a paypal account to be able to use the recurring payments.

One simple way that offers a lot of flexability is 2checkout's recurring billing. This way you have the flexibility to offer paypal (one of their payment methods) or CC recurring.

I use this on a lot of my membership sites (even the simple newsletter method you mention) and it has worked great. They also provide you with all the tools ("Subscribe now" buttons, etc) to put on your sales page and you can use the payment system for all your payment needs.

There are other options out there, but I have found 2checkout to be the simplest and most flexible for my membership sites.

Also, one other downside to PayPal, they tend to offer refunds back to the customer a lot faster that other processors, even if a customer is outside your "Guarantee" period. 2Checkout is much more reasonable in this regard.

    All the best,

    Sean

@mdpatrick - We can handle the recurring billing for your subscribers but there a few things to be aware of when using our system to do this. If you use Paypal for your processing the recurring feature will not work since they're recurring system is not compatible with ours. Ideally you would want to use a gateway service like Authorize.net to handle these transactions for you through our system at which point it handles it pretty seamlessly and easily for you and your customers.
