Let's do a thread on quotes related to self confidence and self esteem. I truly believe these two traits are huge in terms of achieving your goals and dreams.

My turn:

Dont doubt. Dont second guess. When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there, act. That's your job. And that's all you have to do.

    Great thread idea C.G. : )

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

    ― Marianne Williamson
"Each problem has hidden in it an opportunity so powerful that it literally dwarfs the problem. The greatest success stories were created by people who recognized a problem and turned it into an opportunity."―Joseph Sugarman

"Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will spend it's whole life believing it's stupid." - Albert Einstein

My take on this is: Find your genius (what you're good at, what you love) and go with that rather than cloning what others are doing. What works for them might not work for you.

This makes me feel like a lion-

You may write me down in history
    With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

    Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
    Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
    With the certainty of tides,
    Just like hopes springing high,
    Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
    Bowed head and lowered eyes?
    Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
    Weakened by my soulful cries.

    Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

    Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
    I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
    I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
    I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
    I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
    I rise
    I rise
    I rise.

Call me a cynic, but motivational quotes do no good if a struggling person
just reads one, says "Oh, how true", and then goes about doing
the same things that they always have.

It does not always need to be a quote. One of my former bosses
had a poster of a Lamborghini up in his office. He told me that
it was his motivation to improve his business and increase his wealth.

Agree. You should use the quick burst of motivation that the quote gives you to take action. Because taking action is the only way to achieve your dreams.

Yes a picture can motivate but there's also tons of other ways. It really depends on the individual. But I found that for most of us a quote is really motivating

My self-esteem comes from myself. (As a child of God, my worthiness is a given.)
I accept myself without complaint and without conditions.
I take full responsibility for my life and what it is and is not. (I blame no one.)
I do not choose to accept guilt into my life. (I live in the present moment.)
I understand the importance of having harmony between my thoughts, my feelings, and my behavior. (This harmony translates into peace and contentment.)
There is nothing your highest self wants more than peace. This peace makes you feel worthy of all of the richest blessings of the Universe, and when you radiate this out into the world, it is returned to you without fail.

Not a quote, but something to think about.

In life, you will have many doubters (and sometimes haters).

If you give up on yourself by giving into the doubts and negative thoughts, then you have betrayed yourself in the same way.

Be that one person who actually believes you can, when others say you can't.
