If Motivation Is a Problem....

Motivation

One of the major road blocks that people met online is that they lack motivation to follow through. It is hard to maintain motivation when you are working alone and there are tons of distractions such as Facebook, Twitter and etc to stop you from working efficiently.

If you find yourself suffering from motivation drought, I suggest that you form a mastermind group. This is what I have been doing and my group will meet once every month to share information and set goals for the next month. We make it fun by adding rewards and punishment when someone succeed or failed to reach the goals that we had listed.

The rewards and punishment helps to keep me motivated and every time when I feel like slacking off, the reminder of the members of the mastermind group working hard for their rewards cause me to get out of my slump and start working too.

I hope this help to solve your motivation problem and help you to move closer to achieving success online.

Cheers,
Vincent

    Thanks for sharing.
Motivation is an internal behavior that keeps us going. It keeps us energized to achieved desired goals. It is usually associated with educational attainment and enjoyment.
Once again thank you for sharing such a helpful post.

When you start something new, this is when you PEAK at motivation. Especially when it comes to making money and you are able to see yourself quitting your job and being full time at the business venture. This is the most exciting time for anyone.

    BUT......

This motivation can die off quickly if you take action and you don't see results. This is a major roadblock.

If one can master MOTIVATION at all times, even when times are not that easy and tough, one can succeed at the end.

That is why you see so many people quit so fast. I had one guy who joined one of the businesses that I am in and quit in his first DAY. Isn't that amazing.

I teach that to win the challenges that inevitably occur you should not chase success. Far better to build immunity to failure instead. That way you will get through anything because you will have changed the default setting in your internal perception and believability to be closer to what it was when you were a kid. This kicks your persistence energy into high gear because it won't be drained off by the downers that threaten it.

I've spent the last thirty years perfecting an on-line 'machine' that does this job very efficiently. I'd be happy to lend the use of it to a responsible warrior like yourself.

Thanks for this post. I'm sure a ton of people could relate to it.

        That is so true Vincent,

We become like the people we spend the most time with.

        I also like the quote,

"Your best thinking has got you to where you are today"

So the only way to grow is to spend time with people whose thinking is better in the areas you want to improve.

Mastermind groups are often the best way to do that!

You are spot on! Mixing around with people who have the right mind set, are successful or more successful then you will help to bring you to their level.

        Beautifully said. This is gold.

My way of getting motivated is to avoid overwhelming myself. I break the task down to a small chunk. I find a part of the task I enjoy doing and start there.

An object in motion tends to stay in motion and even if I don't continue the task and move onto the next 'chunk', I'm still one step closer to the goal which is claoser than not starting at all.

From what i read to form the mastermind group you need 4-8 persons who are as excited about the idea as you are. This master mind group would meet regularly and decide on objectives for each of its member .moreover they will also share their experiences with each other.
Since vincent has handson experience so he would be better able to eloberate.
One thing i would like to know if we can form online virtual group?will that be effective?

      Great thread guys!

It's always refreshing to read about motivation because we always need it.

As others have said, it's what keep us going... envisioning yourself living the life that you want, having time for family and fun, it's wonderful... so knowing this, or having it in front of you at all times... if we do this we will always feel enough motivation to work hard to reach our goals.

      My two cents.

        Hey Dagmar,

I don't think we need motivation at all..

Motivation is that feeling that you need to be doing something you didn't wanna do in the first place

        Think about that.

Change your mindset from 'needing motivation' to 'being committed'.

And this comes of course down to really knowing what you want and deciding to go for it.

        Have fun

I'm suffering from that exact problem lol

I'm getting better at focusing though, but it's still hard as hell to get myself going.
And once I'm going I still need to keep myself from getting distracted (which seems not hard to do when it comes to working hah)

    thanks for the advice,

        But it gets me nowhere

it's like I've got two little people on my shoulders and one of them is the productive one and the other is the lazy one. It's a shame that the productive one is on my left side and the lazy one on the right. I'm right-handed so my right is slightly stronger :-D

But I do manage to get them working together sometimes lol
(if you let me work for an hour I'll let you be lazy for 2 haha)

Yeah exactly it get's you nowhere... well then it may be worthwhile for you to take a good honest look at what you're really avoiding...

For some it's fear of failure, or being unclear what the next step is, or...

            Hi Bart,

Fear of failure really put a stop to your success. If someone really is fearful of failure, it is almost like an emergency that need to be taken care of.

            Cheers,

              Hi Vincent,

Yep, fear of failure is just one feeling that can stop people dead in their tracks.

The fact is that most are not conscious about it.

This is what has been called the denial circuit in the brain... you distract yourself when you run into the negative feeling...and go do something that makes you feel good, ... and then they you think that you are addicted to YouTube movies for instance, while completely ignoring the real problem because they are not conscious about it...

The one very big mistake people make when dealing with a lack of motivation or procrastination... is that they threat it as the problem.

Neither of them are the problem but just a symptom or outcome of the problem (ie: fear of failure, need for things to be perfect, uncertainty,...)

This is why motivation building, affirmations, and stuff like that will never work in the long run because they are just covering up the real problem.

And the fact is that using those affirmations and stuff like that makes people feel good.. because it helps them to really avoid the problem... and not doing something about it.

Trying to overpower the problem is only good for a very short period. You've to keep doing this again and again...

Clearing out your emotional crap is the first thing you do... and 'motivation is never a problem'

To use a good metaphor.. it's like repainting a wooden table that's about to fall apart due to the woodworms.. now it might look like new.. but it still just falls apart when you put your coffeecup on it.

The problem with trying to use motivation to overpower a negative feeling, is that only one single negative event has to occur to get you back to nowhere

This is why soo many people have a really hard time to lose weight, never getting things done, getting affirmations to work, ... bla bla bla

              Have fun

              Bart

    Vincent good for you!

When Seth Godin was ask why he doesn't
twitter he said why should he be mediocre
at tweeting when he is already exceptional
    at blogging.

    Point being:

Not that twitter is good or bad just that
there will always be something new.

Stand out Now in what you are doing
    and don't dilute your time.

Vincent you probably are already doing
this, but I thought I would share it for
others not using a Master Mind group yet.

If each person in your master mind
group set up a link page to each other
it is a powerful marketing platform.

Master Mind groups don't need to market
to each other but it can be an organic
    extension of your marketing arm.

One of the best ways to get everyone
up running fast when you have a Master
Mind group is to take turns interviewing
    each other.

Practice promoting by setting up a tele-seminar
or webinar even if just your group and family members
    and friends that attend.

Tape the question and answer session and
each one in the group will get practice and
    an instant product.

Each person writes 10 questions about what
they are trying to promote, creating or
    problem solving.

Write questions then answer the questions
and send it to moderator in the group.

don't worry about staying on script it's
better to speak natural but its good to start
with an outline of questions and answers.

This quick product creation technique I
learned from the great Bob Serling.

Get 50 members then name the group
make a invitation only membership site.

    Scarcity is a powerful thing.

    Good hunting

Thanks for this fantastic idea. I never thought of it but I can see how it will fit into my furture marketing. At the moment I am finding it hard to plough my way through my first ebook but I think getting interviewed about it will be a tremendous buzz. And as I am already part of a mentor group, I can really see how this would work. Many thanks!
